The fact that Cora is standing there, arms folded , letting Bello blow this game is very wrong.  I know  Bello is a BP burner so deal with it. Stop the bleeding. Win a damn game.

Cora is setting the tone for  a losing mentality here

Giving contract extensions ( no matter how "market reasonable)  to young players may make economic sense but  does remove their incentive to prove their ability.  Especially those for whom the contract is generational money to someone from the 3rd world.

Atlanta has done it and seems it is working out. The problem is not locking young players, problem is scouting. You have to make sure that the kid is really talented with a promising upside AND has an unquestionable work ethic and mentality. In Bello’s case they thought they could develop him but his stuff simply is not that good and his mentality and consistency are poor.

Bello is what he is. A No. 4 pitcher who will pitch some good games but will blow some as well at the same rate.

#4? You're being too kind.

My guess he will end up with low 4s ERA career.

Notice how Bello's failure sucked the energy right out of the Sox offense.  Not a hit in four innings.

You cannot tell me this is a good clubhouse atmosphere with  this team

The Sox have been known this season not to hit in later innings.

Lol

8-4 and counting now?

Glad I left.
This is one awful crap team.
Last place here we come!

Good thing game 7s for the NBA and NHL are on tv today.

Enjoy another loss Flops fans!

Now that Ozuna removed any doubt regarding a comeback, it might be worth asking if Cora had no incentive to replace Newcomb after Verdugo's hit ?    Wilson was at 50 pitches, had gone a lot longer covering up Houck's mess .

If the way to get playoff bound is to win series at home and split on the road, it would also be true that losing series at home and getting swept  on the road by good teams is a sure way to another losing season.

So Devers walk-off HR and GS the following day are the season highlights  ?

Houck , who I guess will have serious elbow issues, and Bello , who has command/control issues , Buehler , who will have shoulder inflammation all year,  and Gioliito, who is a .500+- pitcher, are the studs supporting Crochet, who has trouble getting run and BP support.   Fitts, who needs to heal, and Dobbins, who needs  a regular spot in the rotation ,  will  be more help the remainder of this year than any of the Houck-Bello-Buehler-Giolito crew.

He’s allowed 15 f***ing base runners in 4+ innings

why is he still in?

It’s now the 8th, but in my mind, there are two ways to go with Bello:

1) Tell him he’s going 7 innings today.  You can give up 20 runs and throw 250 pitches, I don’t care, you are going all 7.

2) Send him to Salem (not Worcester or Portland).  You want to pitch like an A-ball pitcher, we’ll accomodate you..

You must be thinking of Billy Martin, not Day Care Cora.
