I'm using my eyes and not those misleading stats. BTW, his stats are dropping faster than an Acme anvil.

You mentioned the stat, not me. RBIs are RBIs. He's gotten his share, this season, after a slow start planted it in many fans' minds.

Not Duran?

That was O'Neil in Left that booted that ball into another run for the Mets

I know. I was responding to a point made about nothing to be happy about on this team.

I think Duran is, along with a few others like Houck, Abreu, DHam, Yoshi, Jansen and Devers.

Duran has a good shot at breaking Jimmie Foxx's 1938 MLB record of 92 extra base hits. That'll be interesting to keep an eye out for.

Right now Duran has 78 extra base hits. Maybe I should have said he has a shot at breaking Foxx's record. He'll need 15 more with only 25 games remaining counting this one.

Knowing him, he'd sell them to a miser.

Something has to change. Henry doesn’t care any more despite the lip service, There are teams owned by misers who have done well. The ownership is not good at all at finding talent.

My bad. Foxx's 92 extra base hits is a Red Sox record.

Only the diehards like us keep watching year after year of failure. No fair weather fans here.
Still, it’s best if they lose every remaining game.

I'd like them to finish over .500. Baby steps. But if that's not gonna happen, I'm rooting for 78-84.

However, teams like KC and the Twinkies keep allowing the SOX to remain in the hunt.

I want them to lose every remaining game to improve their draft position and to get people so pissed off that they boycott Fenway and vote with their feet. Henry will understand that language.

78-84 would give them the same W/L record 3 years in a row. Don't you realize how rare that would be? Perhaps it''s actually never been done before.

Meh

I’d rather have them lose every game to get a better draft position. Of course that assumes they draft properly-not their forte.

I believe many SOX fans are already pissed off. They will never boycott Fenway.

I think attendance is already down. Haven’t looked at the data of course but I routinely see empty seats at the park. No, they won’t completely boycott it unfortunately, but a large drop in attendance might get Henry’s attention.

He’s been bad-and worse, he’s been inconsistent.

Box Score says all 4 Mets runs are earned, so, as bad as they were, the 2 errors did not cause unearned runs even though they gave the Mets an extra out or 2.

This season, as I've said too many times, the overwhelming majority of games won happened when the Sox scored 5 or more runs.

The biggest problem right now is the hitting/scoring, which very recently--say, 2 weeks ago--was ranked 4th in MLB in scoring and 3d in team OPS.

The players have checked out. I can’t blame them at all.

The SOX would have to finish their remaining 24 games at 8-16. Easily doable.

I imagine this HP chUMP has a food allowance. I don't understand why, because he eats shite.

Those have been strikes.  Did you see that the top of the box was at Yoshida’s waist?  That tv box never changes up and down.  It’s horribly bad vertically.

Maybe

But a lot of the players have had problems with the zone in this loss

While that is likely true, the Sox are running on no cylinders at present.

Tonight was the the night that it suddenly dawned on that NESN booth team that the Sox are going nowhere this year. Funny, they spend most of the year promoting the entire starting 9 for the all star team and its like a piano falls on their heads when it crashes and burns.

About all the griping on this game thread.  I understand it, but prefer not to do too much of it because I feel lucky to have lived long enough to see the four WS titles and especially the 2018 season and WS title.  I believe John Henry owes me nothing.

This has been an especially difficult season only because the great pitching early on got my hopes up.  Then, when the pitching started to fade after the ASG break, the hitting came on like gangbusters.  Because of those two, I didn't worry too much about the Sox leading MLB in errors and unearned runs.

Even now, despite weak fielding, weak hitting, weak bullpen, and so-so rotation, the Sox are still 2 games above .500 and 4.5 games out of games back of KC for a wild card.  However, the Tigers are just 1/2 game back of the Sox and the Mariners are 1 game back.

I disagree if only because so many of them are still early enough in their careers to want/need to prove themselves.

Plus I still remember Ernie Banks expression, "let's pay two."  When you are playing at this level and it's for the Red Sox and the team still has a shot at the postseason, everyone wants to win games and no one wants to lose.

The team is not talented enough overall to make the playoffs. Defense is not great. Bullpen is lousy. No ace pitcher or even a #2. Hitting is inconsistent. Right now, they aren't hitting at all. Fans need to stop supporting this crap until the FO and ownership makes an effort to get some talent on the field.
