I know. Shame on me when the Sox are desperate for good righty bats, which O'Neill in fact has. But that play on that double down the line sticks in my craw. He also quit completely on that shot off the green monster. And tonight he was pretty casual about that single to right field, which led to an unearned run.

I just think there's a pattern--one that is unlike just about every other lineup player on the team.

Add his not infrequent K with man on 3rd and less than 2 outs , and you have nailed Mr. O'Neill pretty well.

Agree completely.

And guess what, sports fans? Houck has just pitched a quality start: 6 IP, 3 ER's.

Another stat which seems to have little bearing on the actual outcome , except that it may be a low scoring game.

Middle of the bullpen pitchers who pitch 3 straight days usually don’t on day 3.

Naw man he wasn’t overworked. It’s not like he threw a bunch of pitches.

Too bad Refsnyder was not in LF last night. Too bad no one can shut down Verdugo who , like Machado, will be reviled in Boston. Too bad Houck was not ready for first inning. Too bad Refs and Wong's HRs were solo.

Too bad that the Sox will have to come from behind late to win this, but they will.

Management thinks they should be buyers. The time for that was last winter.

I think the loss of Giolito should have rung the bell loudly that they were not fully staffed.. That was in late March.

Picking up other people's throw aways at Goodwill doesn't make one a buyer. The SOX FO would be be better off selling.

How many did he throw in the pen warming up each game? Any pitcher, especially a reliever, will tell you they do add to workload. Yeah, he only threw 23 in the Friday and Saturday games, but add in probably 30-40 more hard warmups minimum and it adds up.

You are correct in that he didn’t do a good job tonight, but it’s explainable.

I just hope they don’t do anything stupid like trading away anyone significant

Houck gave the Sox a chance, but the lineup couldn't hit Rodon, O'Neill decided to go casual on the single to right, and Booser was worthless.

He probably wasn’t going to get a hit, but that wasn’t even close to a swing. 2nd time tonight a Sox hitter has had a horrible call on one of those.

Significant? At this point I don't consider Kenley or O'Neill significant for the SOX, but they could be significant to a buyer.

I agree

I was referring to any of our top prospects

There actually isn't anyone else on the SOX, who is tradable, that has any value.
