I don't understand how a batting coach hasn't taken Yoshida behind a shed somewhere and forcefully explained to him that pulling off early to the 1B side is killing his swing.

Again bases loaded 1 out, and score only one on a botched DP grounder by Yoshi.

To me, it is hard to get excited by Yoshi as a key hitter (DH) in this lineup. No excitementy when he gets up. I think he is capable of more than he is showing but still little enthusiasm for him.

Yoshida was supposedly using ST to work on that slashing ( Ichiro like) swing and using opposite field hitting. Oakland-Alameda is not Fenway with the Wall, but I don't see that swing or effect in his current approach.

It's early yet; he'll get his share of hits, hopefully. Hopefully covers a lot of ground.

Good thing that batting coach didn't find Ichiro.

Houck has a 3 hit shutout with only 83 pitches through 6. Is he back out for the 7th . I would let him at least start the inning and see where he is at 90 pitches

I hear you, but not everyone is Ichiro. It's not working for Yoshida. I don't get to actually watch a ton of games, but I've seen him pull off and pop it up or hit a weak grounder so so many times.

I would not. The season is early. I would not risk overdoing it. He's had some long waits on the bench between innings.

Keep his confidence high.

Let's see how bad Chase Anderson is.

Cora has a lot of options with a 9 run lead. Even Joelly is an option.

I like your thinking, Moon.

It does seem that simple, but this is a complicated game.

I think last year he was streaky that way with many games pulling off weakly, and then on occasion ripping the line drive, and even losing some up in the RF seats. Just not consistent in a positive way.

The late, great Bob Uecker would have been the perfect play-by-play announcer for this A's team.

Remember how great he was in the movie Major League?

Uecker is still with us, though he’s now 90 years old.

He’s going to call the Brewers’ home opener tomorrow (4/2).

My bad. Sorry, Bob. Johnny Carson once said that Uecker was his favorite guest and also the funniest.

Only 4 teams have started the season with each SP'er going 5 IP or more, while walking no more than 1 batter and allowing no more than 2 ERs.

Crawford was the only SP'er who let up the one BB.

Bello was the only SP'er who let up 2 ERs.

Small sample size, but very impressive.

This series should by all rights be a sweep by Boston, but let's get tomorrow's win done before thinking about that eventuality. The starting rotation has been superb and clearly validates JH's theory that the cheap kids can pitch as well as the high price throwers

As I said earlier, check it out after the Orioles series.
