Pivetta s*** himself this game

Cora should have brought the lefty. Pivetta was pretty much done. This is on Cora though.

I think Cora was dead right to pull Crawford, but also wrong to live Pivetta in there forfreakingever. In 2 innings he gave up 3 doubles, 2 walks, and a single and did his level best to give the Dodgers this game.

Also, yesterday was actually a day off for the bullpen because Bello went 7 and Llovera the other 2.

How many times has Devers swung on an o-3 count? NEVER!

On 3-0 counts, yes, and many for HRs.

His OPS when swinging on 3-0?

2.170

In the 12 times he swung, he's got 5 hits, including 3 HRs.

I was not referring specifically to 3-0 counts.

After watching him for 7 seasons, I have seen enough to know he makes a lot of bad swing decisions.

… and Turner swings with no outs and a 3-0 count?

This team is really bad coached.

f*** you Cora! Again!

Oh, come on. He has held Crawford to a max of 90 pitches, and he had 86 and was clearly "done" with two straight hits--hard hit double and hard hit single-- to start off the 6th inning.

The problem is Pivetta has been a freaking disaster and is still in there.

In Pivetta's defense he has been overused of late.

You crack me up.

Next, you'll say he needs to change his approach.

BTW, HOU was no-hitting the Tigers and then gave up 4 in the bottom of the 9th to lose 4-1.

TOR down 5-2 to CLE in the 8th.

TEX is in free-fall and losing 4-1 to MIN.

Gotta pull this one out, somehow.

Thanks for your opinion, duly noted.

On a forum, we are free to express our opinions , and mine remains that Devers swings at too many pitches out of the zone.

Devers has always been his own worst enemy with swing decisions

Oh, stop it. While he does make some effort to--in today's lingo--"control the strike zone," the fact is that he has often been an excellent bad pitch hitter and recently got a dinger off a pitch well below the strike zone. And on some days, call them bad hair days, I've seen him swing and miss at fastballs right down the freaking middle.

Did I say you should shut up and not give your opinion?

My opinion is, I'm glad Devers is a free-swinger. It works for him, and will again- maybe his next AB, even.

Maybe not.

BTW, every batter makes a ton of "bad swing decisions."

We wont. Cora is an inept and this team is cooked.

Do you think Turner, at almost 40 years old and about 5000 at bats in the majors over the last 15 years would get coached by someone by telling him when to swing or not swing?

Maybe, maybe not. He threw 331 pitches this month before tonight. In April he threw 469 pitches, May 445, June 191, and July 429. He threw 74 pitches 5 days ago and 15 two days ago.

It’s not only this situation it’s the whole poor fundamental culture this team has shown this season. This is only a little sample of the later.

Didn’t he face 4?

Yes, exactly.

So when you said, "Cora should have brought the lefty. Pivetta was pretty much done. This is on Cora though." The lefty would have had to stay in for 3 batters, including vs some righties.

So, the coach should have changed Turner's approach, too?
