This inning is the exact representation of the defense of the 2023 Boston Red Sox, simply pathetic.

Has to be said. We were all clamoring for another starter when the real problem is the bullpen. And the infield defense.

Crappy throw to home

Another run in

Bad throw, but also a slow release. I can't be sure if Arroyo had to wait until the pitcher got out of the way.

Wong threw it low which meant Arroyo had to go down and get it which was all the room Rodriguez needed.

Whatever the reason for that blunder was it’s emblematic of the crap defense this year.

Can’t make the playoffs playing like this.

It could be worse. The SOX could be playing 9 games on the west coast.

Doesn’t really matter where they play when they play like buffoons. They won’t win many games anywhere.

They suck on the west coast, so it does matter where they play. Of course, if you knew their history, you would know that.

I realize that historically they haven’t done well on the west coast. But this year they have not played sound defensive baseball anywhere. It’s hard to win games when you consistently give the other team additional outs.

I don't receive the SOX post game show. If someone here could post why Cora removed Crawford early, I would appreciate it.

Crawford had 5 starts in July and the average pitches thrown was a tad under 80. Today he threw 81 pitches, one over his average in July.

He’d also thrown 20 pitches in the 5th, allowing 2 hits. I’m sure Cora has data on 3rd time through order and pitches thrown as well.

He’s pretty much been a 4-5 inning guy all year. Maybe a couple times into the 6th.

Looking back on the series, the difference between the two bullpens is the difference. Mariners have hit the Sox pen hard. Sox have not done much with Seattle’s.

3 outs away from a 2-4 west coast trip. Just terrible. Anyway they just can’t compete right now with those other teams in the wildcard hunt.

Well this game was fun. The team limps home going 2-4 on the trip. Fortunately they play a lot of games against teams that are really bad soon.

Now I am outta here

Let's hope hometown cooking changes that!

At this point i would be satisfied if somehow they finished 3rd in the division.
