Tonight's contest marks the last game of the 1st half. Will the SOX finish the first half above or below .500? Stay tuned. The suspense should be unbearable.

Garrett's last outing against Pittsburgh:

7 IP, 3 H, 2R, 1 ER, 0 R, 13 K on 88 pitches

The one before that vs. Washington

6 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 8 K on 90 pitches

Going to be a tough road for the Sox tonight.

Anyone who believes silent movies are a thing of the past hasn't watched many SOX games.

Marlins can pitch, but the last 3 games have been ridiculous. This is a team that is expecting something to go wrong every game and when it does, they fold up in a fetal position.

The rays haven’t been able to run away with this division considering the orioles and Yankees struggles.

The Yankees have struggled.

The O's are on a pace to win 99 games. That is not struggling.

O’s pitching has been suspect lately . I don’t know how long they keep this up.

They’re on a pace to win 99 games and no one can name 3 of their starting pitchers. Even Brandon Hyde has to look up their names on Baseball Reference…

Problem is no one knows how to slide feet first anymore. There was nothing prettier back in the day than a well executed hook slide.

Players with speed like Duran and Hamilton should be proficient in sliding feet first. The coaching could be at fault for not stressing the positives of sliding feet first when stealing a base.

This same holds true that weak batters should at least be proficient in laying down a bunt, whether to move a runner or going for a base hit.Again, this could also be partly the fault of coaching.

Sox defense collapses yet again. Winck gets the K, then walks a man to load up the bases, then throws a wild pitch, followed by still another botched played by Hamilton who to me is just worthless.

Not a wild pitch.

It appears the official scorer is using Little League standards to determine hits and errors.

Who cares? The real point is that the Sox are losing because they can't hit, can't pitch, can't play defense, and can't run the bases. That was, you may recall, exactly the case last night and nothing's changed.

Self-destruct. Walks and errors are just as effective as base hits. Cora looked really pissed heading towards the mound. It'll be awhile before 2018 strikes again. I mean a long while.

It took 118 seasons to get to a season as good as 2018. You might want to adjust your frame of reference.
