Someone tell me what I'm not understanding about Casas? I admittedly have the lowest baseball IQ on this board- but I've never felt he looked like a big-leaguer.

Rule #1. - If the Rays ask about one of your pitchers, better have you people take a second look to see what it is they see.

Rule #2. - If the Rays give up on a pitcher, pass. Tampa uses them up and spits them out; they never seem to be the same once they leave Tampa.

Rule 3: If the schedule says you play at Tampa, skip the trip and just forfeit the games.

Its way too early to give up on Casas. I think he will be a good player.

Rays will be pitching one of their young studs tomorrow from the minors. If the sox can’t win tomorrow the sweep is in order.

Whitlock is a really good reliever and a mediocre starter. Naturally, the Sox want him to start. Dumb.

They don’t have other starters.

Whitlock and Houck have shown to be a dynamic backend of a bullpen. But it is easier to fill that role than a starter. Look at Winckowski last year. Some said he wasn’ta Major League pitcher. So far this year, he’s been a lights out reliever…

Casas looks like a big leaguer , just doesn't play that way yet. He does have the potential of , oh say, Middlebrooks, Swihart, Lavarnway, Castillo, and others who looked pretty good in a uniform fitting session. Casas will make us all forget those guys

I'm turning on the Bruins game to watch a real team of professionals with a good coach and a good GM.

Speaking of which i hope they bring that cup home. A lot of pressure when you have a ridiculous season like this.

I think they can find guys who can give up 5 runs on 8 hits in 5 innings. Lock down relievers are hard to find.

TB pitching is superior….but Kike cannot lead off and Yoshida cannot bat cleanup. At least not right now.

Kike was sucking batting 9th, and now Cora has moved him up to leadoff, so he can possibly get 1 more AB, and suck even more.

Tough to win it all in hockey no matter how good you are. One hot goalie can win a series. This Bruins team is great. I hope they win it all. They are fun to watch.

True but one thing this group has done is won a lot of games going back to cup finals lost against St. Louis. They have to get it done finally. Hopefully they do.

Ort at the Trop Dome !!! A made for Netflix limited series. The Sox still need to get a minimum of 5 more outs because there are no 10 run rules in MLB baseball

I do not get Cora’s insistence in Kike as a leadoff hitter nor his insistence that OBP machine Yoshida is a cleanup hitter…

This team is not rebuilding nor will compete against contenders. We are the definition of mediocre.

Bloom has to go.

Although it’s happened a lot in recent years, it’s still hard to stomach when a 73 million dollar Mercedes kicks the ass of a 217 million dollar jalopy

Good point. Same logic applies to keeping Devers batting 2d. He's a lefty bat facing mostly lefty pitchers and should have been dropped in the order. But there he was last night, batting 2d as usual, with the bases loaded with two out in the top of the 8th inning of a scoreless game. And what does he do with that golden opportunity? He strikes out looking at a pitch well within the strike zone.

The key to good managing is putting the hitters in the right spots. If only Cora knew how to do that, the Sox would be sweeping the Rays in Tampa.

I would go a step further out on the limb and say the roster construction is the beginning of the problem and then Cora , maybe with some analytic advice, has organized them into a mess of a lineup. The players themselves have responded with no production to speak of from about 6-7 of them.

The way the Sox are going right now I don’t think it matters who bats where. Like I said Kike gets an xtra AB tonight, and a chance to suck even more, which he did.

This is going to be an epically bad Sox team

Naahhh just mediocre. Something around 500.

They need to spend big bucks. The farm is a f desert.

Absolutely true--and very insightful. Careful construction of the batting order is what makes ordinary hitters better.

They will be bad I think and they still have the same chance as the Skankees of winning a World Series: NONE!

It's early days, and right now the Rays are hands down the best team in MLB. Last night's game was their toughest win of what looks like 11 straight so far this season.

They definitely have the best pitching, so it should be no surprise the Sox have struggled to score because about a week or so ago the Sox scored just 3 runs in the final 26 innings of the series vs. Pittsburgh--and that was with Duvall.
