Not so bad, lol. Interestingly, all those injuries minus Green were at the ASB or later

Yes, but during the whole season, you had less than previous seasons. 2019-2020 were horrific. Judge, Stanton, Sevy...

I would rather they give Schmidt a chance to start instead of German. They've been saying for the past two years they were going to stretch him out and let him start but then they use anybody but him when a hole opens up in the rotation. It's time to see if the guy can be an option in the rotation.

Yanks need a replacement for King. I think German profiles better as a starter as he’s got a deep arsenal without a lights out pitch. Schmidt has a deep arsenal, but his slider is nasty. He profiles better as a multi inning reliever than German does

Yanks unwilling to go past the final financial hurdle. This is annoying. You spent all this money and left a gaping hole in the OF/lineup. Cash better hope Cabrera can handle the job.

Look for another Ottavino type deal. Maybe trade Hicks with a prospect for cash.

I wouldn’t mind seeing the Sox take the $6mill contract of IKF off the Yankees’ hands in that same type of deal…

Would you give Dalbec for K-F?

Duran for K-F & Peralta?

I’d give up Dalbec for IKF.

I don’t think Peralta is all that available. Maybe the Sox can squeak a lesser sleeper prospect to take IKF and his salary off NY’s hands. At best, it might be a Carson Coleman or Juan Carela. No one even approaching their top 20, but not useless players either.

I suppose maybe the Yankees might be willing to include 23yo Deivi Garcia before his value completely evaporates…

Peralta? He might be the Yankees' closer.

I suggested a Duran for K-F & Peralta on BTV and it got 4 thumbs down on the Sox side to one thumbs up!

LOL.

I could see an IKF move to the Sox. I know Yanks-Sox trades aren’t always popular, but it fits a need for you and removes an obstacle for us. I would think we could get more than a AAAA player in Duran, though. And Peralta too? Lol. You couldn’t get either of those players for Duran in a single deal, let alone both

If the Yankees deal IKF to the Sox, it’s going to be to clear salary. The Yankees won’t want any Sox player they need to add to the 40 man. Most likely, the Sox would get IKF, his $6mill salary, and a prospect not on the 40 man. I named Coleman and Carela as possibilities, but I don’t know how either organization views either of them. And the Yankees might get back a lesser prospect who doesn’t need to be added to the 40 man. And then the Yankees go with one of the kids at shortstop and use the money for a LF like Profar…

I found it interesting that most people felt the Sox were giving up too much by offering Duran for IKF & Peralta.

I could see us giving up Lugo or Bonaci for IKF.

He’s gonna bring back more than that if they move him. The Dodgers would have been an intriguing spot before they took the guy from Miami. My wonder is if the Yanks just aren’t sold on the kids to take over the position right now and want IKF there as a transition type guy

It does make a lot of sense for the Yankees to keep him around for 2023 rather than selling out on the kids.

So the Yankees are prioritizing a temporary shortstop over a starting left fielder?

If they deal IKF, the only real landing spots are Boston and Atlanta. I suppose Arizona might consider him as a starting 3b as well…

The thing about IKF is that Cashman took on Donaldson's salary to get him. So he's invested in him, in more ways than one. I don't think he's going anywhere.

I doubt he's traded, too, but if they really want to stay below the tax line they are right up against, they will need to dump some salary somewhere.

Could they dump Hicks off on someone by adding a nice prospect or two with him, a la Ottavino & German for cash?

I’m pretty sure Donaldson and his 128 OPS+ with Minnesota was a bigger part of the trade than just a salary dump…

True enough.

IKF was included to offset Donaldson's "emotional" baggage.

IKF was the real target, the Yanks took on Donaldson to add upgrade on Gio offensively and balance the money. Gio plus Sanchez were costing $17mil. IKF was $6 mil. So the Twins didn't want to add $11 mil to payroll, so the Yanks took a "still prime" producer in Donaldson who could play 3b

I’m still a bit peeved at the roster construction. Yes, we’ve got kids coming up that are impressive. Yes, we’ve got an internal candidate who “could” win the LF job. But here’s the rub for the Yanks. They were unwilling to go past the next cap level right now. Once the season starts, Yanks will do very well but they’ll have a need, probably in the OF. They’ll spend prospect capital AND have to surpass that last cap level to fix the problem. Should have just spent the cash now and save the prospect capital.
