Notin , I always count on you to provide some cockamamie explanation as to why plain old common sense is wrong. You never disappoint.

Thank you. It’s like how I always expect you to be close-minded to others’ viewpoints. You’ve never failed and never will.

But I do believe building towards “bullpen roles” is small market stuff. Teams that could not afford good pitchers got guys who excelled in certain situations. Billy Beane used to be all over this stuff. The closer himself bring a ninth inning specialist was never a thing until the A’s/LaRussa made it one. And there was never a logical reason ever to have a LOOGY in the bullpen except so as to run all the other arms in it.

Just. Get. Good. Pitchers.

If you’ve been watching baseball as long as you claim, you should know closers as ninth inning specialists is a relatively new thing.

Also a relief ace is NOT the same thing as a set up guy. This has been explained to you multiple times. But then you’ve never failed me and never will.

One of his better ones was that guarding the 3rd, and 1st base lines was the same as the shift.

I never said that.

I just said once the shift is banned, new defensive alignments will replace it.

Are you one of those who believes the only way you can convince anyone that you’re not an idiot is to constantly belittle other people?

Did the Dodgers have a great pen? Got rid of Jansen, and Kimbrel went by way of Matt Barnes, and was left off the roster.

The Dodgers lead MLB in bullpen ERA and fWAR. Are you saying they didn’t have a great pen?

You did say that guarding the 1st, and 3rd base line was the same as the shift in the shift thread, so call it what you want name calling, or not.

Not come playoff time they didn’t. Regular season is over.

What the ever living f*** is Boone thinking? If Holmes is a closer, let him close. Don't do this 8th inning or multi inning ********. If he isnt the closer, then why did we use our closer in the middle innings last night?? Honestly, Lou Trivino has been absolute nails since coming to NY AND has a lot of closing experience. If he is the closer, why did he pitch in the 6th last night?

Craziest thing is, Yanks have badly outplayed the Guardians. Boone’s decision to go to a starter in the 10th backfired in game 2. His decision to try and get 3 innings out of Peralta in game 3 backfired.

Civale vs Taillon for all the marbles in the Bronx tomorrow. Huge game.

Yankees should send Tito some Christmas gift cards. My goodness boone outmanaged francona these last two games.

And Yankee fans blamed Boone for Game 2 and 3 losses.

Congratulations, Yankee fans. You had to sweat that series out a bit. The ALCS could be a beauty.

And the World Series will be seeds 1 or 2 vs 5 or 6….

How did he outmanage him in game 5? By remembering Gerrit Cole was on his roster?

The ALCS could be a beauty but we are already behind the 8 ball. Taillon is a good middle of the rotation starter, but he now has to start twice instead of once. Also, the ALCS schedule is total ********. Its 2 games, one day off, 5 straight. Thankfully game 3 starter is Cole and if there is anyone I trust on 3 days rest, it is him. Should go..

Game 1 Taillon

Game 2 Sevy

Game 3 Cole

Game 4 Cortes

Game 5 Taillon

Game 6 Sevy

Game 7 Cole on 3 days rest

I thought he should hace left quantrill in the 6th when he was finding a groove. Instead he took him out and put Morgan who gave up that extra run.

Boone is really making some head scratching moves. German not being used but Schmidt coming in all the time makes no sense. I like Schmidt, but he’s been scuffling in the POs due to inconsistency of his best pitch (slider). Donaldson is a no power auto out. Cabrera has more upside. Astros clearly did their homework on Carp. As he didn’t have a rehab assignment, he’s rusty and literally isn’t seeing the breaking ball. No point in starting him.

The game was 1-1 in the 6th. Your pen is mildly tired but still could go inning by inning. No reason to try and get more innings out of the scuffling kid. Should have gone to Trivino in the 6th and take it inning by inning. Really s***** loss. We had verlander on the ropes and let him off by having nothing after Stanton

All or nothing offenses don't typically go far into October, when really good pitching usually beats really good hitting. Yanks have scored 82% of their playoff runs on homers (18-for-22), just ahead of the Stros' 76% (13-for-17). Who has the better staffs? Houston hasn't even thrown Javier or Urquidy yet, and both are postseason battle-tested...

Conversely, the NL finalists are much better balanced offensively: Pads have scored 35% on HRs (14-39), Phils 33% (13-39).

German has a 6.23 ERA in a SSS 21.2 IP vs. the Stros, with 6 dingers allowed.

I think Boone has good reason for being shy about him.

They had Verlander on the ropes ? I think I missed that part. It must have happened between all the strikeouts.
