Kyle Schwarber sure can pound the crap out of a baseball. He's one of the most enjoyable guys to watch, because he has such a smart approach. More than willing to take a walk.

You're saying the same thing as notin. I don't get it.

Bradley had an fWAR of -0.3. That's not fine, wherever you put it in the batting order.

It depends on how much you value that defense in RF in Fenway. Maybe the Sox have a higher priority for defense and have an adjusted WAR calculation of their own like rWAR? Why always rely on someone else's metrics when you can develop your own? Maybe they give higher weight to defense? IDK.

Well, they kind of jettisoned him and incurred a monstrous $8 million buyout in the process...

They probably felt like a .650-.675 OPS was acceptable, due to his great D, but that .578 OPS, with us, was just too low to keep plugging on with him. And, when the rest of the offense started sputtering, "burying his bat at number 9" became too much to bear.

His OPS was also falling- .483 his last 33 games with the Sox. He was getting uglier.

Before this year, I wasn’t really sure if I would have called Schwarber a Three True Outcome guy. He always had the Ks and walks, but I wasn’t sure if he hit enough home runs. This year, he definitely added that third outcome into his arsenal…

One guy on the Phillies DD was able to acquire that I wish Bloom had gotten is Brandon Marsh aka The World’s Oldest 24 Year Old. But not sure if abloom would have surrendered the catching prospect even if we’re had one good enough. Realmuto made the Phillies’ one expendable, at least for a while…

What trophy did he end up winning?

Another chance for Verlander tonight. Will he lay another egg on in the WS or finally deliver. Houston should be up 3-1 in this series. Philly is lucky to be tied at 2

As Slasher would say, Pitching Equals Parades. The Astros pitching is doing to the Phillies exactly what they did to us in last year's ALCS.

Home plate up is atrocious tonight so far. Even Schwarber was walking towards the dugout as he for sure thought he struck out but the ump called it a ball. And he's blown many more since

The last game was badly called, too.

It's like these umps want robo umps.

All but Verlander are homegrown SP'ers.

Take that farm building naysayers!

The Red Sox have never been good at drafting or developing quality pitchers. They have 1 or 2 good ones in each 10 year period.

What a poor decision by the Phillies Manager there. Reminds me of Blake Snell in 2020 against the Dodgers. Wheeler cruising along and gets the quick hook. Alvarez hits better VS lefties but yet all playoffs opposing managers keep bringing lefties to face him. Quite surprising considering the analytics in the game.

Solid point about Alvarez's splits.

That’s people avoiding the data. And incredibly obvious data…

I think that’s why they brought in a guy with more success at it…

Not so solid:

2022:

.998 v L

1.020 v R

Career:

.980 v R

.963 v L

It's close, but still not true.

OK, he hits just about as well vs. lefties.
