That's a great list, MOON, but nothing obscure. I have about 16 cd's by a band called KING GIZZARD AND THE LIZARD WIZARD. They debuted in 2010. They've been getting less obscure in recent years, but still obscure to many.

Maybe not as obscure as what you have, but IMO, many of the bands I like blow some HOF bands away.

Here are some rarities and maybe unknowns to many...

I'd say Smoke is pretty obscure:

Maybe Bauhaus

Mountain Goats

Funkadelic's Maggot Brain

Les Claypool's Hendershot

G. Love's Baby Got Sauce

American Woman by The Butthole Surfers

I Walk Alone by Mecca Normal

Syd Barrett

and

They get lots of play on XM radio..

Tull is a good argument, but Rare Earth? gimme a break. Other then one huge hit and being the first hit-making white band to be signed by Motown, I think Rare Earth is really a stretch.

??????

Even if you consider Rare Earth a stretch (and they had more than one hit), what about Blood, Sweat & Tears? Somehow they never got in, either…

I would think that Jethro Tull is a far, far, far greater omission from the Rock and Roll HOF. They’re such a glaring omission, most people don’t believe they’re not in. But they’re not…

Agreed. Tull is the most egregious omission.

There will always be fringe groups whenever a line is drawn.

Of the top of my head?

Steppenwolf, George Thorogood, Steve Marriott (Humble Pie), Dire Straits, BOC, Bad Company, Doobie Bros, Jim Croce and a few of my own personal faves that won't even be considered due to their obscurity.

Dire Straits and the Doobies are in.

IMHO, your taste in music is top-notch and I really like every artist on that list. I just received Mountain Goats' newest release BLEED OUT in the mail a couple of days ago. Like all their releases it's excellent. The only cd I have by Mecca Normal is SITTING ON SNAPS from 1995. MAGGOT BRAIN is a stone cold classic. As for G-Love I have the cd FIXIN' TO DIE from 2010.

BS&T definitely.

I was a big BS & T fan. Their first two albums are great, one with Al Kooper and one with David Clayton-Thomas. After that things started to slide a bit.

I'd have to say they're borderline at best.

A movie should be made about Al Kooper. One of the more interesting characters in Rock music. He had his hands in a lot of things that turned out great. I met him back in 2000 with some drinking mates. Al was on this stage playing a piano; no one else was there, so we enjoyed his music and later we shot the shite with him. A really nice guy.

But so many were confirmed or suspected drug users! NONE of those cheaters should be allowed in the Hall.

Cool.

I saw G Love live in a small venue in Maine. It was great!

I'd love to see the Mountain Goats.
