Don't forget all the Rule 5 additions that will be made, and some tough choices on who to protect.

Sure to protect/very likely:

Tristan Casas

Frank German

Wikelman Gonzalez

Chris Murphy

Ceddanne Rafaela

Brandon Walter

Possible protectees:

Wilyer Abreu

Kole Cottam

Devlin Granberg

Thaddeus Ward

Minor league FA eligible:

Eduard Bazardo

Pedro Castellanos

Jeurys Familia

Zack Kelly

Enmanuel Valdez

I know you are catching a lot of garbage in the active Forums from some argumentative followers of Boston baseball, but I for one appreciate the depth of your information and knowledge. Keep it up, Moon.

BTW, let Familia float in the Rule 5 wilderness.

Is it me or was baseball a better game all around before the 'nerds' got involved?

Not much time for the details right now, but it was dominated by some famously ignorant ex-ballplayers in management. The Sox themselves could provide multiple examples.

I do not agree with nerds calling moves down to the manager pre or during the games. Have those discussions offline in closed meetings.

They were one of the few American rock bands that could compete with the British Invasion. And Mark Lindsay was a dynamic front man.

Among Portland's finest, Paul Revere and the Raiders recorded "Louie Louie" a week after the Kingsmen did ... at the same studio in Portland, Oregon:

I agree. That's something that will never be said about me. My strong suit is Rock 'n' Roll and Rhythm & Blues.

I just read where they are inductees of the Oregon R&R HOF.

Fabulous game all around. DID NOT FALL BEHIND EARLY or at all. Pay attention , hitters. This, plus great pitching by Hill, works. So does 2:23 for game time

And the SOX clinched the series.

They also recorded a sequel titled LOUIE, GO HOME that was a regional hit, but never caught on nationally.

Thanks.

I'm not sure how minor league free agency works, but I don't think it's like Rule 5.

The Enmanuel Valdez minor league free agency is the only one I'm really concerned about.

Anyone know how it works? Can we just offer him a ML contract and keep him under control, or can he become a FA, if he wants to do so?

We could end up being a lot of teams' spoiler- so much so that maybe we sneak in.

Great post, Vegas, but what are your feelings regarding Paul Revere & The Raiders not being in the R&R HOF?

I would think that Jethro Tull is a far, far, far greater omission from the Rock and Roll HOF. They’re such a glaring omission, most people don’t believe they’re not in. But they’re not…

At least the Seattle Mariners thank the Red Sox for this weekend's wins over the Tampa Bay Rays:

Not sure about Jethro Tull being a far far far greater omission. Tull was a damned good progressive rock band and PR&TR was a damned good straight ahead R&R band. They were from two different eras. They both should have been inducted a long time ago. It took DEEP PURPLE forever to get inducted. Then they waited until Lou Reed was dead before they inducted him. Dumb bastards.

Once you let these guys in, another list is created with bands close to being as good (or better) as these guys.

It's the same with a hall of fame in any field.

It's you, dude. Baseball is fine. Baseball DISCUSSION, i.e., the crap we all do here, is what has problems.

Interesting. Please name some.

There will always be fringe groups whenever a line is drawn.

Of the top of my head?

Steppenwolf, George Thorogood, Steve Marriott (Humble Pie), Dire Straits, BOC, Bad Company, Doobie Bros, Jim Croce and a few of my own personal faves that won't even be considered due to their obscurity.

Yeah

It’s you

There is a place for data and stats in the game alongside watching games without it.

Tull is far and away the most glaring omission. Nothing against PR&R, as I like them. But I’d put them behind Tull and Rare Earth as deserving bands missing from the R&R HOF…

I thought that distinction would go to Brasier.

It goes to Pham because he has the disadvantage of never getting to face Brasier…

Tull is a good argument, but Rare Earth? gimme a break. Other then one huge hit and being the first hit-making white band to be signed by Motown, I think Rare Earth is really a stretch.

I've got a truckload of cd's by obscure bands and artists. Someday we'll have to converse about that.

That's a great list, MOON, but nothing obscure. I have about 16 cd's by a band called KING GIZZARD AND THE LIZARD WIZARD. They debuted in 2010. They've been getting less obscure in recent years, but still obscure to many.
