IMO , tonight's game is the one where the Red Sox either win and live to play tomorrow for the series, or if a loss ( forget ugly or otherwise) they are the fully baked, no chance team with a 3 game under .500 result that they have felt like most of the season.

It is beyond time to fish or cut bait . The clown show put on by pitchers who had previously been showing a modicum of skill was pathetic emphasizing the utter waste of 10 runs by an offense, not including JDM's sit-out, Bogey's toss out, and Devers oh-for-5.

Of course you could be a Yankees fan and watch your butt eating sofa cushions with each new loss. And the Killer Royals took down the TBRays. That's twice this week the Sox failed to gain on those in front of them, three times counting the loss to the O's last night

Arroyo

Dugo(LF)

Bogey

Devers

JD

Hosmer

Kike

Duran(RF)

Plawecki

REF's .330 BA and .939 OPS not good enough to crack this line-up, plus he's better defensively than Duran, but other than that.

UNBELIEVABLE that the Ref Man is not in the lineup in RF today. Take your pick on who should sit between JD, and Duran.

I predicted last night that JD would be the Designated Batter today, but I also predicted that REF would be in RF. I'm not really sure it's about winning anymore. Either that or Cora really isn't a genius.

If the SOX manager?, based on recent trends, was putting a line-up together that gave the SOX the best chance to win, it would be Pham at DH and REF in RF.

This smells of a manager getting his orders from the FO.

It would also be nice if Bogey and Devers started hitting like the money they want.

There is no excuse for starting JDM today . Let him be available off the bench. They cannot get value for Julio now, and he is damaged goods, physically/mentally or both. He actually hurts his own value by batting, rather than claiming a fixable injury

Maybe JD's come full circle. He began his career as a below average hitter and he's ending it the same way. Who knows? But I'm not going with an injury excuse.

JD is hitting 273/344/429 - 772 OPS. None of those are below average. He's been in a slump for a while, though, that's for sure.

Hey, Vegas, maybe we've shamed JD enough for him to homer today. Maybe not.

Danny Santana released today. This purge of AAA talent cannot continue if we are going to build back Boston. Danny boy, you will be missed. Maybe JBJr has a spare room to hang out so Fenway at playoff time will be easily accessible.

You can't say we don't try to boost his morale.

In seriousness, I do think today is a critical game and Cora should go with the guys who are hot. Regrettably JD is not, neither is Rafael and X has to be sore from so many fouls off his leg and HBP action.

I wouldn't sit Devers but I would have a heart to heart that he can't carry this team by himself and is only making it worse by chasing all out of the zone.

Maybe some other team will pick him up. The SOX can't be the only organization that 'dumpster dives.'

JD’s birthday tomorrow, so maybe Cora is giving him, a early present, and letting him play today. Just throwing that out there.

Cora: "OK, JD, you're in the line-up today."

JD: " Thanks, Alex, but I'm really not helping the team."

Cora: "You can say that again, but it wasn't my decision. Orders from the FO. It's not a good look to have our highest paid batter not playing."

JD: "Btw, Alex, my birthday's tomorrow."

Cora: "I didn't know that. Thanks for telling me. I'm thinking of a present; ok, for your birthday tomorrow I'm gonna let you bat clean-up and play RF."

JD: " Won't that reduce the team's chance of winning?"

Cora: "Fugghettabout it. I've already done that today. Your birthday's much more important."

JD: "I love you, Alex."

Cora: "I know. All my players love me, except maybe for REF, but he'll come around."

You should write a book, "JD and the Old Man" , a collection of witticisms, aphorisms and catechisms displaying Julio David Martinez's philosophy of life No wonder he's not hitting, he's getting older and the birthday tomorrow just confirms that fact

"Fugghettabout it." For a brief moment I had Cora being Italian.

Speaking of getting older, it appears the Yankems' Cole may be aging quicker than the Yankems originally thought.

Since July 1st only the SOX have a worse W/L record than the Yankems in the AL East. The SOX are worse by only one game.

The O's have the best record since July 1st.

We used to be the butt of jokes for being behind the lowly O's. It appears maybe a few teams may end up below them, including the Jays and Rays.

I agree about Devers trying to carry the team. For some reason he has this thought in his head that he's the only HR hitter on his team. Oh, wait!

Maybe Bogey calling him "Captain" put undo pressure on him.

Maybe, the Story signing put undo pressure on Bogey and sapped his power.

Maybe, I'm just BS'ing...
