Sawanara still hasn't been bad enough to have Cora the genius remove him.

This ain't on Cora, not by a long shot. The lineup is scoreless. Bello didn't have it in his first MLB start. And Sawamura came into this game having given up 2 runs in the past month and 12.1 innings pitched. His WAR coming into tonight was +. 6.

Were those 4 BB's gawdawful? Absolutely. But, if he was due for a bad night, this was the best game for it because the Sox can't hit spit.

JD's like a faulty Roomba that keeps bumping into furniture.

Isn't his contract up this year? If so he sure isn't doing himself any favors. Its early July and we still haven't won a single series against the ALE...and we play them a lot for the rest of the year.

Yup, JD's contract is up this year and hopefully it won't be extended.

Everyone has an opinion, they're like *******s.

Trevino is at the top of the league in many catcher's metrics and has been a pleasant surprise at the plate.

Kirk is a lousy catcher. He's more of a DH.

I don't watch enough jays games to have that opinion. He's certainly hitting the ball very well.

This is where Cora should let Robles finish the game because BP arms are gonna be needed the next 4 days.

You're being sarcastic, of course, so it might interest you to know that in these two games, last night and tonight, the Rays pitchers have given up 3 BB's and the Sox pitchers 14. Plus of course the Sox hitting continues to stink.

Ultimately, of course, the manager owns all the wins and losses as compared to the expectations of his bosses. But right now, I doubt that Bloom or John Henry wants to dump Cora as badly as you do.

Actually, I wasn't being sarcastic. Why waste BP arms in a lost game?

As for Cora, I don't care if he's dumped or not, but except for the Covid season, which I don't count, the SOX have been highly successful with 1st year managers since 2004.

You're saying 2021 was a bad year for Cora and the Sox?

To be fair he has actually performed pretty well here. This is a rough patch for him for sure and if he can’t find his stroke (which I think he will) his options will become pretty limited next year.

If there's a better all-around catcher in the AL this year than VAZ, I don't know who it is,

Kirk (WAR 3.2), Trevino (WAR 2.0), Heim (WAR 2.0), and Raleigh (WAR 1.4) are all better than Vazquez (WAR 1.0).

Robles must really be in the dung house if he's not pitching the 9th.

You would be correct. He’s so deep in the dung house he was DFA’d earlier today.

Back to back stinkers from the Red Sox.

I wonder what c rap Cora will spin this time in answering why the sox cant win 1 series against an AL East foe. FFS we are halfway through the season

He’s got 33 RBI’s batting out of the 3-4 hole all season. JBJ, hitting 100 points lower, having 85ish fewer plate appearances and batting in the 8-9 slot, has 25.

JD isn’t being paid to get on base ala a leadoff guy; he’s paid to drive in runs, and for most of this season he’s come up very small in that department. Ditto Bogaerts, who only has 34 RBIs.

Illinois, you should get on youtube and check out the mansion that JD lives in. If I was JD, I'd retire immediately and never leave my castle.

I was referring to his performance during his entire contract.

This year so far he has sucked. But he’s a good hitter and he will likely turn it around.

He’s also 34 years old, an age at which more than a few guys have started to lose it. Jim Rice is a prime example of a guy who dropped off a cliff at 34.

JDs bat has noticeably slowed; he’s getting a lot of soft hits. There is reason to be concerned.

Not after this year.
