I am at the game, the 24th straight Red Sox game against an opponent with a current losing record.

How is that possible?

Just lucky I guess.

Because there's a ton of mediocre to crap teams playing under .500, including Seattle.

There is a stat for relievers which should outweigh all others : How many times did a relief pitcher record the final out of a game with his team still in the lead. Advanced stat: How many times did the reliever's team not win the game in which he faced the last batter of the opponent. Combine the two for a plus/minus number.

If the SOX were playing their 24th straight game against teams with a winning record, now that would be unusual in today's baseball.

Interesting, Vegas. So which SOX reliever has the highest +, if any?

Hint: it's not Robles. Just waiting for the stat crew to verify my observation

The real intent of the thought wasn't so much a new stat category, but rather that can a reliever insure his team's win or not. The only stat that seems to matter at year end are team W-L records.

Is there or is there not any rule about how far you can take your bat with you when running the basses like JD Gazelle ?

Robbie Ray uses 60 pitches to record 15 outs against the ragin' red Sox. Obviously the Sox hitters are in a hurry to catch that plane home to Momma.

Can we get one more strong inning out of Crawford ?

O'B says 6 walk off losses this season . Didn't say if that was the BP each time, but you know it had to be, since we win complete games.

Crawford was reaching his expiration date after 80 pitches, but makes a great pitch to France to save his 1 hit shutout through 5. Now for the bats, not so much yet.

Cora with a long leash on Crawford. He looks out of gas.

It's the lineup that stinks. Crawford is the savior of western civilization as we know it.

These walks are going to come back and bite us

Wow. Just wow. What a freaking platitude that ignores the fact that Crawford is pitching his ass off in his first ever start for the Sox. 5 scoreless innings, and you are griping. Sheeesh.

The lineup is what stinks today.

He has started a game before for the Sox. 2021. Gave up 5 runs.

Fine. Great. A year ago. He's still pitched a great 5 innings, but you have to get your dig in at Cora.

We are now in the 3d time through the lineup against Ray, and they still stink to high heaven.

The problem today should have been the starter, but he's been terrific. The solution today should have been the lineup. And they act like they just want to get back to Boston.

How is pointing out that he has started a game before a dig at Cora?

So far he's thrown 4 pitches: 4 seamer, slider, changeup, and cut fastball. Plus his control is looks pretty good. Nothing fat and nothing way off the plate.

Great inning for Brasier!

You really need to settle down. It's a known fact a high number of walks is usually detrimental to a team. It raises pitch count and the need to get into the BP earlier. Not anywhere where I said he was pitching an awful game. It's a general comment that walks tends to bite a team in the ass.
