Not enough to make me pine for keeping him, and the biggest reason for the deal was to shed CC and Beckett's contracts.

a) I think there's a very good chance they sign him to an extension, with all the money that's coming off the books.

The current ownership has always shown some sense of trying to please the fans. They know a fire sale will piss off a lot of people. Including Devers in it would be torch and pitchfork stuff. If they're going to do that they might as well sell the team. And I don't think that's the plan.

It occurs to me that they might not be able to trade Bogey, because he actually still has 3 more years on his contract after this, if he doesn't exercise the opt-out. The only reason he wouldn't exercise it is injury. But that would put the team who acquires him in a risky position.
