So what you are saying is the Royals will be fielding a AAA-AA team in Toronto this weekend against all current science.

Can we NOT go down this road again? Thank you.

Kiké has had a set back. No timetable for return.

Considering the length of Kiké's stay, the next 40 man roster move could just be Kiké to the 60 day IL rather than a DFA.

Yes, sir. He has been shutdown.

That sucks.

If we are buyers at the deadline, maybe these are our top priorities:

1. 1B

2. RP

3. CF/RF (RH'd bat)

Maybe we can find someone who can play a decent 1B and RF.

Nate is supposed to start Friday, and Whitlock returns this weekend vs NYY.

Any timetables on...

Wacha

Hill

Danish

Seabold

Arroyo

IDK. I think it's just going to be a repeat of the 2021 moves.

So, 5 counting the late Iggy addition?

Schwarber

Robles

Davis

Shaw

Iggy

We'd see a lot of demotions and DFA's doing that.

Let’s limit this to trade deadline pursuit. While it’s very likely to happen, there are no guarantees players like Shaw and Iglesias get released and become available for Boston…

Why do the Sox need a RHH RF? Something happen to Refsnyder?

The Sox already have two platoons. They can’t have three. With only 4 bench spots, that would mean Christian Arroyo would be the backup catcher or Plawecki would be the backup SS with the other DFAd…

No, 1B, RP and RP. One guy we kinda like and two mediocre options.

I agree. The need is to find a 1B that can hit and reasonably field the position through October. Maybe the need for relievers diminishes with Eovaldi, Sale, Hill and Wacha coming back. Keep Crawford and Winckowski up in some capacity. Whitlock is in the pen. Maybe Paxton can offer something at some point.

Part of me does want to see Plawecki play shortstop. It’s not a part I’m proud of…

Why in the world we did not keep this guy?

BTW, who did we get for Rizzo?

I'm not sure it'd be that exciting because he just wouldn't get to anything. He's probably got the range of Jeter.

Maybe better range, since his one step either way is longer.

@ChrisCotillo

Checked on this today: Paxton is still throwing bullpens, not yet at the point of facing live hitters. He told a bunch of us in Toronto at the end of June that he was hoping to do live BPs either week of ASG or week after. Targeting mid-Aug. return.

Rich Hill is throwing off the mound at Fenway to Trevor Story today.

Is that because they only had one baseball available and wanted Hill to get plenty of work in ?

All I can say to these injury reports and updates is that this team will be loaded , apparently right after the Astro series and the trade deadline. This makes Bloom's job all the harder because he can't sell damaged goods ( though he bought Schwarber last year while injured). And he doesn't know who will be effective after they return.

The next 11 games will speak for themselves giving some guidance on buying/selling. Chaim will be blasted no matter what he does, including a no moves possibility.

There are so many realistic choices:

1. Go all in.

2. Go moderate

3. Stand pat

4. Buy & Sell

5. Sell a few assets

6. Fire Sale

Just a quick thought on reading the updates about Story's ongoing lack of recovery from the hand injury. The notes say the injury occurred when the pitch hit him in the hand AS HE WAS swinging at it. Do you need to know more about this guy?

I'll go 50-50 he will need surgery and miss the rest of this year. Not in a good mood over this current bunch.

Wondering if it’ll be a tendon sheath injury. Won’t be seen on traditional imaging. Large enough tears can be seen on MRI, but in the hand, likely not. My bet is he undergoes exploration and that’s what they find. He should be 100% by ST if that’s it

Turns out to be a hairline fracture in the wrist area. In any event, they will rest if for a couple weeks, then decide it needs a screw or two to stabilize and heal.

It’s a snakebite season.

Call it a day and sell the nine.
