Bundy, on the other hand, has 3 pitches--slow fastball just like Hill's, curve just like Hill's, and that changeup. Plus maybe a cut fastball.

Two pitches are simply not enough.

Needs to be 2 outstanding pitches.

Wonder how soon we sill Hill to the pen and Whitlock to the rotation?

Does Whitlock move to the rotation in the TOR series with Houck out?

For a reliever, maybe/probably, but not for a starter.

Superstition and downright ignorance. See the new thread on the injury list by mvp78. Apparently, a bunch of Sox players won't make the trip to Toronto because they don't quite believe in vaccinations.

Lucky for them that their parents weren't that ignorant.

I'm not impressed with Hill, but am also OK with Cora's decision-making.

I'm looking at mlb.com pitch by pitch, and it says Hill just threw a changeup for that third out ground out.

Is that right?

If it is, what was he waiting for? Ditto Vazquez.

I'm not sure I'd want Bundy in the Sox rotation either.

JBJr, who has been hitting a bit lately, fouled off the same center cut 88 FB that Shaw missed entirely. Hill's mistakes become souvenirs.

I could be wrong, but I think that changeup affects their decision-making vs. fastballs.

@jcmccaffrey

Whitlock pitched the other day so Cora mentioned Kutter Crawford would be the long man today for Hill

@jcmccaffrey

It's Valdez up in the pen first though

Cora slept in.

Seriously? Those 2 runs were by the first two batters in the 3d after Hill had retired the side in order in the 2d inning?

And since that 3d inning dinger, Hill has managed to get 6 outs with no more runs scored.

Seriously?

I mean, it was 4 earned runs after only 6 outs in the game. There was cause for concern.

And Cora did get Valdez warming up, so maybe he agreed with me.

@redsoxstats

Hill started last season with 16 ER in his first 16 IP before settling down.

He almost made 5, and saved the pen some.

JBJ covers more ground than a truckload of fertilizer.

Boy, does he. He also reacts better to the ball than Hernandez, who now and then seems to wander.

Unless Bundy pitches a complete game, the offense might do something.

Took half day .Defense looks way better In OF this year ! We should start a comeback off Bundy next time through.
