While securing their 9th series sweep of the season, the Yanks also set the record for the most HR's by a team in the month of June (57).

The Yankees are in a tough spot this season. Anything short of a W.S. Championship will now be a major major disappointment. Mike Francesca, a big Yankees fan, made this point recently. The pressure is on the Yankees to go all the way but as the games against the Astros demonstrated, this Yankees team simply doesn't have what it takes to win a World Series. :P

I think these games against the Astros have made it especially clear they need a better left handed bat than Gallo. They were shut down by all of Houston's tough righties, and today's only run came from Rizzo (a lefty).

I’m stealing that. Lol

Yeah, we need to get another lefty force beside Aaron Hicks and Joey Gallo. Both of those guys suck. We’ve got plenty in the minors, so we should be able to swing a deal for a lefty rental.

Beni makes the most sense but will probably cost a lot in talent.

A guy like David Peralta makes sense. Bat is reasonably good, glove is good. Bats lefty.

Other than lefty rentals are scarce.

Brian Reynolds would be the ultimate prize, but he’s under control for awhile and will cost far more than Beni would

This team keeps on rolling. DH sweep with the bats rolling and the arms pumping strikes. This team just continues to roll. They’re in every game, they don’t beat themselves, they hit to situations and their pen shuts down everything. This is the best Yankee team I’ve seen in 20 years and they’re still having spots of underachieving! Donaldson is under .700 OPS. Gallo and Hicks literally cannot hit.

Seems like a destiny season. Even Boone can't blow it up.

One good thing coming out of a Yankee WS win would be that Boone would get several more years to help the Sox out.

One could argue that Boone has been a better manager than cora this season, troll on.....

Florial is actually putting up numbers in AAA (OPS is over .900 for the season). Maybe it's time to give him a shot over Gallo? He's lefty and he's already on the 40 man roster anyway.

Boone has been good this year. Although, I’m not sure if that’s just because every arm in the pen sans Chappy is throwing smoke and dominating

Boone did not get better. The team did, and they are much more healthier than years past.

That’s because their GM decided to procure 10 starters for 9 spots in the lineup. Someone sits every day and it’s keeping them fresh

It helps that nobody has missed extended time, and that allows for a rotation.

I'm not expecting that continue.

You jinxed them.

The pitching slump begins, today, too.

Just checking in on my "troll" post:

NYY June 19>

1.15 WHIP

3.70 ERA

3.86 SIERA

4.06 xFIP

96 ERA-

Pre June 19

1.05 WHIP

2.74 ERA

3.37 SIERA

3.45 xFIP

72 ERA-

Not really a "slump," but there was a clear drop off. (Hard to keep up with near perfection, I might add.)

Basically just hoping he goes on a streak. Maybe today today will be the spark. Or maybe he'll wait another 2 weeks for his next HR

He has a known hole at the top of the zone. And it is the worst possible kind. It's both a pitch he cannot hit and he cannot lay off.

What is the point of having Gallo in the lineup?

Gallo is in the lineup because the Yankees have no need or urgency (currently) to replace him in the lineup. If the division were a tighter race, he'd likely be gone.

He may be replaced at the deadline.

Gallo really sucks. If he had actually run right out of the box when arroyo looked like a clown in the outfield he would have easily scored. When you are playing as badly as he is, the least you could do is hustle.

Unless he completely turns it around, Gallo will be replaced at some point between the deadline and the postseason, likely sooner rather than later.

I'm surprised he's lasted this long.

Gallo does have 4 walks in his last 3 games. Sorry that's the only positive I could come up with. Hard to sugar coat someone hitting .166 over half a season of ABs. The guy just doesn't make enough contact for his power to come into play.

That's why I call him the human windmill

Maybe Boone wasn't all that bad to begin with. Instead, the loudest complaints came from Yankees fans who are a miserable fan base, typical of a northeast fan base: excessively cynical and poorly informed.

So many Yankees fans are New York Giants fans, a fan base that wanted Tom Coughlin fired many years ago. We know what happened next--two Super Bowl wins. Coughlin is arguably the greatest head coach in the 21st Century with the exception of Bill Bellichick. But this didn't stop dumb Giants fans from calling for his head.
