27-9 is within our sights. A .750 start is insane and two more to go in Baltimore! And after this series we get 3 vs CWS at home and 3 more vs the O’s. We might be 24 games over .500 by then

Yes, he should have. Chappy isn’t what he used to be. He’s looked like s*** before and righted the ship, but this time feels different. He’s getting hit now, which he never really does

At least this is his last season.

I would move him to a set up role, maybe he performs and can be unloaded at the trade deadline.

Yanks only need to play .500 ball the rest of the way to finish with 90 wins. I know the season isn't won in May, but a start like this sure makes the rest of the season a lot easier.

Absolutely

The tigers in 84 went 35-5 to start the year. They put it on cruise control from there, playing .500 baseball the final 102 and then kicked it into high gear again to win the title in the POs

Here is the thing, the Rays scare me. Not because I think they're super talented or whatever, because they remind me of Deadpool. Ace needs TJS, they just regrow another arm that throws lightning. Hitter goes down with injury, they promote some stud who hits .300 while their starter is out. They just continue to know exactly who to replace with who. Talent to talent it isnt close. But the Rays have done it this way awhile now and they are still rolling.

Detroit after 40 games had nobody close. I have a feeling that after this cush stretch with 2 vs BAL, 3 vs CWS and 3 vs BAL we should have some distance, but not enough to put on cruise control. Yanks might need to win 105 to take this division

Yanks score 3 in the first and make it hold up. Booney resting DJ and Stanton worked out. Bats still quiet, though, and Lyles was not great yesterday. Need to get something off this surprising lefty in Zimmerman. They are playing well for sure, but again, they are winning on days they don't hit which is something they didnt do last year.

Yanks are 9-2 in their last 11 games. Both losses were walkoffs. Every single game they have played this year, they have been in

Have to give credit where credit is due. The Yanks are on fire.

I'll bite my tongue on the rest of what I would like to post. LOL

I'm sure you feel like how we felt during 2018. I kept expecting the Sox to stop winning but it never happened. TBD on if this continues for the Yankees. But I remember that feeling you speak of.

Crazy thing is, the most expensive problems on this team are already filled. We don’t need starters. We don’t need a SS. We don’t need middle of the order hitters.

Even with Green out for the year and Chappy diminished, the pen is deep and shouldn’t need anything more than a tweak which could come from the minors.

The things we need are corner OFers. Judge can play CF. Hicks has been useless. Gallo has been entirely lost. If one of them gets going, then we don’t need anything. If the deadline comes, I expect a deal for Benintendi. He’s exactly what they need. A high average contact hitting OFer with great defense to offset the boppers.

Win the title in the piece of s***? You mean Tiger Stadium?

(I know very well what you meant) ;)

I've been saying this team needs more bullpen help for a while. And hicks needs to be gone too.

Green going down complicated things. Loaisiga needs a breather. But we have the depth in the minors with some big arms. Time to test them.

Bigger problem yesterday was the bats. 1 run in 18 innings is embarrassing

They should have hit Cueto in game 1. Had some opportunities but didn't capitalize. In game 2 though Kopech was filthy, I actually thought the Yankees were going to get no-hit. If he stays healthy and can continue to control the strike zone like he did yesterday he's gonna be a top 5 pitcher in baseball.

Cueto made his return to the majors after nobody wanted him and spins a gem at Yankee Stadium. And Cueto didnt look good. Too many fat pitches that we just didnt center.

As I stated in the pen thread, the Yanks have PLENTY of options. I know Gil and Green are now down for the count this year and Chapman has been hit or miss and Loaisiga has been downright bad. But I do think this pen is still a top tier pen. What we need to do is leave Chappy in the middle innings until he gets his yips under control. Chapman's fastball is straight, so while some other pitchers can hang with a 97 mph fastball, Chapman needs the higher velo to be successful. He needs to be hitting 100-101 with regularity. When he isnt, he seems to try to hump it up which leads to less command and gets him hit.

Loaisiga lost his command of his fastball, even though it is still a top tier weapon. He needs to be sent to AAA and have the pitching coaches there tell him the same thing they told Clay Holmes. Your pitches have so much movement, be less fine with them, throw them to the middle and they will dive down in the zone. This will help him stay ahead in counts.
