Mayer with his 4th tater of the season for Salem today!

Scott with his 3rd tater of the season for Greenville today!

If he continues hitting, maybe we move Mayer to Greenville for the week of july 4th. He is not being challenged much at Salem.

Duran went 3 for 4 with his 5th dinger.

Downs hit his 10th and went 1-2 w a BB

Hamilton, Rafaela and Castellanos all went 2 for 5- the last 2 had 2Bs.

Greenville hit 4 HRs, including McDonough who went 2-4, Scott 2-5, Binelas 1-5 & Davis 2-4. Flores went 2-2 w 2 BB. Northcut actually had a non HR hit and 2 BBs!

Mayer went 2-4 with his 4th HR & 15th 2B. Jordan had a 2B.

I'm not sure they'd do it before 200 PA's. It's not the worst thing in the world to let a guy have success. I think they'd probably keep him down long enough to play in whatever All Star game they have at Low A this year and them promote him after. That seems to be when a lot of the promotions happen.

Sounds about right. There may be several promotions around that time. Some of these guys are doing so well, they deserve a bigger challenge. Some are aging out of their levels, and it's time to see what they can do at the next level, deserving or not.

Maybe a few prospects being traded at the deadline will open up some room for promotions, as well.

Mayer also missed about 2 weeks with the wrist injury. I don't think they are going to rush him. I'm not sure there is any reason to at this point. He'll finish this year at Greenville. He'll either start at Greenville next season, or Portland if he's really mashing. If he follows the Bobby Witt track, he'd be ready n 2024.

They won't rush him, even if he's mashing, but 2024 would be fantastic.

Good stuff. When you figure Mayer missed time, his 8 looks even larger.

He had 7 SB's in 26 games last season. Granted, at lower levels, you don't need to really be fast to steal bases and the amount of SB's can be very inflated based on the effectiveness of the battery. Also, his SP scouting report lists him as un: Fringe-average speed. Good instincts, but not a burner. Will play faster than his foot speed because of how he reads the game. Seems right on the money? He can exploit his baseball sense at the lower levels. I don't think he's going to be a 25-30 SB guy in the bigs, but being a Sox has shows me seasons were Varitek reached 10 SB's and Vaz led the whole team in SB's. Maybe he's a consistent 15-20 guy just because of his baseball smarts and getting on base?

And baseball smarts also help players take extra bases on its, too.

Is it possible Ceddanne Rafaela could be ready as soon as next season? We could have an OF of Duran (LF), Rafaela (CF), and Judge (RF). Oh baby, that would be awesome!

I doubt they rush Rafaela, but he's already got the D down.

Duran and Rafaela would save money, so we could afford Judge. Maybe trade Verdugo for that much needed closer?

I think they have a closer on the squad already (Houck).

@SoxProspects

For the first time, Nick Northcut is SoxProspects Player of the Week after slashing .318/.400/.955 with four home runs and 11 RBI. The 22-year-old slugger was also South Atlantic League Player of the Week. Northcut is #60 on the #SP60.

We stan our tater king.

And I have to say it one more time - Northcut is a beautiful name for a home run hitter.

Yes. His 20 HRs this season matches his career total from his previous 705 ABs. It's a shame for all these prospects that missed out on 2020.

You think he ends up in Greenville before the season ends?

As a chain call-up when Binelas moves up to Portland. Portland has so many holes that a bunch of guys could move up there at will.

My guess is that Mayer, Hickey and Sikes also get called up at some point.

It’s not all bad at Portland, Castellaneous is starting to gain ground after a tough start to the season!

At Worcester, j Davis with two taters, his 3rd and 4th of the season.

Duran with his 6th tater of the season!

Seabold was magnificent for the 5 innings he pitched tonight. Three hits, no runs, no walks and 6 strike outs.
