Devers can be a very productive hitter over a long season, but he is still a kid and not close to a professional hitter. Schwarber is a pro hitter , just not a swing harder guy.

What is with Devers bottom hand swings and misses? It looks like that hand or arm is injured.

If you notice, he never takes the top hand off the bat and let it fly loose. I have wanted to mention that for awhile that he will sprain his wrists with what he is doing

Fire Island blows it past Devers.

Devers is hurt. I thought I saw something on one his swings in his last AB and this one he looked very odd after each swing.

That would be a killer blow.

Devers isn’t worth two shits when it really matters…. Kid can’t ever not swing out of his damn shoes! How many games will he miss over his career with oblique strains or bad wrist! Like a said before, this kid should not be the corner stone of our franchise. He will only get slower and hell, he can’t control his weight at this age. What happens when he demands 8-240 and he’s walking up to bat at 240lbs! Trade him for arms

W/O Devers the SOX would be playing golf and I would be watching the movie Halloween tonight.

This is why it's best to avoid game threads.

He was over swinging in the last game against the Nats and shaking his hand right before he hit the two HR's. So, I don't know what's going on with Devers. I know if I swung that hard, I'd be in traction for weeks.

All true (I’ll take your word on the movie).

But the Ted Williams philosophy to look for a good pitch and hit it is not one that Devers embraces. He should. His ceiling would be limitless if he could/does.

And both you and the Sox would be enjoying alternate activities better

I hadn’t noticed that last game. Like I said, I did see something the previous AB.

You've just achieved a perfect score for dumbest post of the night. Unfortunately, there's no cash prize.

You are wrong about that and you know it. He is not what most would call a professional hitter . He is a hard hitting/hard swinging young guy with a lot to learn about his chosen career. Talented yes, fully ready to to excel for the next 15 years, not quite. Sorry to disappoint you so in game threads

Devers leads the major leagues in total bases since 2019. He definitely needs to change his approach at the plate.

If you roll back to Rafi's very first AB tonight, after the swing and miss for strike 3, he crouched at home plate, wincing as he grabbed his bottom hand and wrist. If it was not hurt before that swing it was hurt then.

I’m sure he will be asked about it on the postgame show.

I "know it?"

LMAO!

Most of this thread is a joke.

He is capable of more. That .275 average could be 40-50 points higher with a little more plate discipline. It’s in him to do it.

That sucked

Must win tomorrow.

Not necessarily; Sox have gone back from 0-2 in the Division Series at least twice.

But it definitely is not a route you want to take.

Ted Williams probably would have hit 700 HR's if he had swung at pitches an inch out of the strike zone.

Musta been luck.

He needs to work with a pro to learn hos to really hit.

How soon some forget the kid went 4 for 5 with 2 HRs in game 162 to get us here.

If this isn't an example of the absurdity of knee jerk reactionism, I don't know what is.

Next, we'll be hearing Cora should be fired.

So you’re telling me that you are Henry and when it comes time to pony up that contract demand you’re going to be willing to open the checkbook up…. Dominican players that start out “pudgy” never really are able to control their weight! The kid has to lose weight every winter just to get into game shape! He keeps this approach at the plate over his career and we’ve seen the best of him! Players have long careers because they care about the shape of their body! You never did see Bonds, Griffey, Pujols, even Cruz swing out of their shoes on ever pitch! Proof is in the pudding and just calling it as it is! I can’t be the only one thinking this way… and if nobody else agrees…. You’re just hating on my post

Exactly. This type of reaction is just being a prisoner of the moment. He had a few tough at bats tonight sure, but I do not doubt this kids future, not one bit. The fact that someone on here wants him traded after one game is incomprehensible.

We get swept…. It’s on the table! Hell… the Rays enjoy themselves in the game… enough to have some popcorn and relax! This team lacks something. Whether it’s leadership, talent, pitching, defense or passion to show up game in and game out. It’s Cora’s job to have them ready to go…. A sweep and that’s on him!
