This has to be the most important game of the season, as yesterday's was before this game.

I can understand the frustration and negativity, but this team of ours has over performed all year. They have fought back to win games and series we should have lost. They have shown true grit and determination.

We've had some very tough stretches, and when it seemed like all was about be lost, we found a way to bounce back to life. The recent 7 game win streak was just such a moment. One can point to the opponents as being light weights, but winning at Seattle has never been easy, even for the best of Sox teams.

We lost big in game one, but the Yanks did not really rise to the occasion, yesterday, as much as we handed them the win. Sure, they hit the granny while we hit 2 solo HRs. They capitalized on our mistakes, and we did not, but we showed we can compete, and I think we will today.

ERod has been much maligned, this season, and I'm not going to make excuses, but he is a different pitcher over his last 14-15 starts than his first 14-15. Our pen has been iffy the last couple months, but they too have risen to the moment many more times that they failed. Our offense has been our most consistent plus area, and today would be a great time to bust out a few crooked numbers.

I won't make any predictions, here, but I will say that it seems like the moment Sox nation is at it's lowest point, we seem to respond with a win.

Tonight's Line-up:

1. Kike CF (Hope he finds the groove he had before COVID)

2. Renfroe RF (Time for a big blast)

3. Devers 3B (Seems to be hitting the ball harder, of late)

4. Bogey SS (The "rest" helped- time for a big game)

5. JD DH (Lead by example, my man!)

6. Dalbec 1B (The hottest Sox hitter since the deadline)

7. Arroyo 2B (I'm going out on a limb and saying he gets a big hit)

8.Verdugo LF (Show us why we liked you so much, last year)

9. Vaz C (ERod does better with Vaz. Keep it up!)

Go Sox!

I hate these Sunday night games.

So do I. With family for Sunday dinner which means fewer posts.

Agree this is a big game. Also agree Vazquez is good with Erod and that he is capable of a good game. My concerns are the bullpen and the hitting because I don’t think our pitching overall can keep the Yankees under 4-5 runs.

That said, we fans are indeed fortunate that the 2021 Sox are definitely in the hunt this late on the season. The AL East as the best team in the AL and probably both wild cards. Credit to Cora, Bloom, and of course the team.

So does somebody want to explain to me why pitchers are not making Stanton uncomfortable in the batter's box? It is not even hard to do!!!!! Even just making him move his feet will give him the hebe-jebees.

The way Stanton and Judge are hitting, we ought to think about walking or hitting them nearly every AB.

The rest of the Yankee hitters are miles below these two guy's level.

Be careful with Gardner, Sanchez and maybe LeMahieu, but yes, make Stanton and Judge as uncomfortable as possible, or just put them on 1B.

That same question was asked of Yankem pitchers; why didn't they make Ortiz more uncomfortable at the plate?

Stanton is NOT Ortiz...not even close. Knock Ortiz down and he will make you pay. Knock Stanton down and he has to stop sniffling first. That might not happen the entire rest of the game.

Btw, that new rule that a reliever has to face 3 batters is just as ridiculous as the other new rules to shorten the game. Just saying.

There are better ways to shorten the game, but this rule does help, and it's the same for both teams.

I don't want to shorten the game. Here's another 'great' idea for shortening the game; 4 foul balls and you're out. No more stupid than the rules now being used.

Just back from a terrific dinner with five of our kids plus spouses and I sure hope I don't hex this magnificent start by ERod with Vazquez behind the plate.

In the 4th inning, I'd expect more than page 2 of commentary. Definitely good luck to have moonslav start the game thread.

Solid singles by Devers and Bogey to kick things off.

Sac fly by JDM (even though I was hoping for a dinger)! Bogey advances on the throw home. Appeal play by Boone was/is strictly bush league, but that's the Yankees for you. Now a mound conference with the one and only Bobby big D Dalbec coming to the plate.

Well, the conference helped--Dalbec K's on three swings and misses.

Watching when Devers took off, I could see why they did it; it wasn’t that clear cut, although it’s usually got to be pretty obvious to call it. Bogie’s was definitely bush.

Schwarber is the better hitter...he should be in the lineup

Schwarber doesn’t turn that DP in the first; he may not have fielded it at all (assuming you wanted him in for Dalbec).

Box score says the Yankees have yet to have an RISP.

Devers and Bogey--the third baseman and shortstop ignorant Sox fans love to hate because neither has won a gold glove (nor is likely to)--were the keys to the first run scored in the game.

He can play LF at Fenway. He's better hitter than Verdugo facing a lefty.
