I won't rebut because I think Plawecki should have been the primary catcher (due to his bat) during August and early September. If , in fact, it wass Vaz's game calling that got Eovaldi in trouble last night, then Vaz needs to go. But the ball came out of Nate's hand, not Christians. Very tough to pin it on the catcher when the pitcher can in effect call his own game. I do think Vaz may lack essential mental processes in some categories.

No question Eovaldi threw the ball and Vazquez only caught it (when he wasn't letting it get by him). Nevertheless, when a pitcher is having a great month--4 starts--and suddenly goes sour with a new catcher, one has to wonder if the catcher wasn't/isn't part of the problem.

Actually, I think this is bigger than me being argumentative, redundant, whatever.

It's late in the season, the Sox are in it, and every game is a big deal. Cora has been terrific this year, but I completely disagree with not having Plawecki catch Eovaldi last night. I think Vazquez is OK with Sale because he's so professional and basically only throws three pitches.

If I were king, I would not let Vazquez catch Eovaldi or Pivetta for the rest of the season.

I would have no problem with Plawecki catching the majority of the remaining games, maybe all of them.

I seriously doubt VAZ is dumber than Sanchez. To be dumber than Sanchez one would have to be in a coma.

OK, I will give you that major point Gary Sanchez is the champ chump of wisdom lacking

How long can pivetta keep this up? Pitching well to this point. Need extra runs!!!!

I've been impressed with Cortes, especially his command.

I'm very much with you, just putting more weight on the pitcher for executing the pitch well.

Whoa! I think I can now get off my hobby horse.

If Sanchez is dumb, that makes Cortes one really great pitcher. I just wish ERod could work the corners, especially the bottom of the zone, the way Cortes does.

Some emotion and intensity shown that time after that 3rd K!

Way to go Pivetta!

Pivetta has nothing to do with it. This is all Plawecki today. Pivetta's just along for the ride.

Interesting call by Boone to pull Cortes who was cruising until this go round. Maybe trying to stall for as rain delay before it's an official game

Hate to say anything good about the Yankems, but, imho, Judge is the best player between these two teams. He just does everything well.

So what would several of you guys offer for Judge as he goes FA in the future ?

Boone was going tp pull him after this inning anyway. Didn't want him facing the SOX line-up for a 3rd time.

I'm no Boone fan, but I think he definitely made the right call there--even though Cortes had been going great guns. .

I don’t think he made the right call. I am glad that Cortes is out. He has shown a lot of ability ro work out of jams and his pitch count was low. Boone over reacted. He brings in a box of chocolates.

Yes he is, and yes he does. I guy that tall has no business being as good as he is. I've seen him sprint toward the right field wall to get a ball, and slide at exactly the right moment.

Shows you how hard baseball can be. Cortes can only become the loser of this game. Sox relying on Iglesias to keep the line moving and he does on a 50' roller

I definitely hope you're right and I'm dead wrong. Whoops, there goes another rubber tree plant!

Good call by a700hitter.

Blind stupid luck, which I will take over a hard hit out and day of the week. Tough luck for Cortes.

Bases loaded once again, less than 2 outs, and the Sox get one, and that on a wild pitch. I'll take it so a solo HR can't catch us.

The thing is that Cortes isn't a true starter. More like a long reliever. Typically 80-90 pitches is his max. You could see he was tiring out that inning and missing location.
