We can’t beat bottom division team with their terrible pitching and someone everyone still expects us to make a run at a playoff spot! Nah…. punt on that pipe dream! And as far as next season goes… the teams in our division will all be better and we will still be the same getting older by the day team with talent that only shows up periodically!

One thing we are not is “old.”

Ottavino 35- gone

JD 33- maybe gone

Richards 33- gone

Sawamura 33- minor role

Marwin 32- gone

That’s basically it.

Don't worry, folks, one loss doesn't define a season. The Red Sox still have a dynamic weapon in Travis Shaw that they will soon unleash on the baseball universe. Once Travis Shaw begins playing, watch out, no one will stop the Red Sox. As Alex Cora said, Travis Shaw makes the Red Sox a "more complete unit." True, Travis Shaw hasn't hit since 2018, but that is an insignificant point! More importantly, Alex Cora is good friends with Shaw's father, watched Travis grow up, it is a great story. Who cares about offensive production anyway.

Vaz is 31...that is getting up there for a Catcher especially one Coro seems determined to work to death. He is starting to look a bit weighty as well if you know what I mean. Dalbac is 26! What the hell do they think they are doing with him....waiting for him to develop?

Someone posted a while back that they are professional softball players, or, at least, semi-professional.

Major league hitters are unable to hit a normal women's softball pitch. There are some amusing youtube videos of them trying.

Amongst the recent wreckage Devers is now 0 for his last 19ABs …..

Although that 420-foot double-play wasn't badly struck.

It's not often that you see a total breakdown in every aspect of baseball like the Sox displayed last night. It was almost as if the two teams switched uniforms before the game .

The boys played like they had been out drinking all Friday night .

Ya I was not expecting that performance…… beyond pathetic.

"JD-Maybe gone." I don't see JD opting out after this season and turning down 19 million dollars. I, also, don't see him getting traded unless the SOX eat a big chunk of his 2022 contract.

I agree. He's here next year.

I agree, but if our oldest player is 33, next year, I don't get anyone thinking we have an old team.

Even adding a Greinke or Scherzer hardly turns us into an old team.

Our key players and their ages:

24 Devers

32 Sale

28 Bogey (1 yr remaining)

33 JD Martinez (1 yr remaining)

31 Eovaldi (1 yr remaining)

25 Whitlock

25 Houck

29 Kike (1 yr remaining)

29 Renfroe

31 Barnes

30 Vaz (1 yr remaining)

28 Pivetta

25 Verdugo

26 Arroyo

24 Duran

28 Taylor

26 Dalbec

33 Sawamura

30 Plawecki

This looks like a middle ages, mostly prime team that after next year could look very young to prime.
