With the Sox starting Richards and Houck today and ERod tomorrow and the Jays going with Ray (8-5, 3.12), Matz (8-5, 4.34), and Ryu (9-5, 3.44), Toronto winning all three is possible if unlikely.

Two seven inning games today will also minimize the exposure of the Jays bullpen.

If we win game 1, things will be tricky. I have a 5:30 tee time, for which I am leaving around 4:45. Hope we play a nice quick game.

Can we use this one thread for both games, cause we're winning game one.

I would still start Duran even against Robbie Ray. Duran hit well against LHP in AAA. He replaces Plawecki.

Is Xander out for both games today?

The bench bats of Chavis/Cordero/Plawecki leave something to be desired. I would have called up Arauz and DFA'd Workman.

Vaz needs some rest. I'd at least play Plawecki at catcher. (maybe he does game 2)

With Bogey getting a day off, there's not much more we can do.

Cordero is on the bench, but he's a lefty who sucks vs lefties.

I might bat Dalbec 5th, Dugo 6th and Vaz 7th, but it's no biggie.

Dalbec and Chavis could combine for 6 k's against Ray. Putting Dalbec to 5 would make that 7 k's for the duo.

@jcmccaffrey

Cora says Bogaerts will play in the second game of the doubleheader today

So he should DH in game 1.

Kike SS

Duran CF

JD LF

Devers 3B

Xander DH

Renfroe RF

Vaz/Plawecki C

Chavis 2B

Dalbec 1B

If it's his wrist, it could be affected more by swinging the bat than by throwing the baseball.

Dalbec is busting out, today. You'll thank me, later.

@IanMBrowne

Connor Wong is the 27th man for the Red Sox today.

Makes perfect sense, especially since they are DH'ing Vaz.

The three Sox catchers' OPS's are Plawecki .689, Vazquez . 645, and Wong. 636. My opinion, which is worth nothing, is that Wong is the best backstop in terms of preventing both passed balls and wild pitches. However, Vazquez has easily the best DWAR of the three, +1.2.

Wong's M.O. was always questioning his defense and suggesting he may switch positions.

He looked good in his brief call up, but it was too brief.

DH Bogey both games.

I say again, it's possible the wrist hurts more/gets worse when he swings the bat. His last dinger was July 11, and since then he is 5 for 27 and his OPS has dropped from .930 to .891.

On the other hand, the Sox need his bat, even with the bad wrist, more than his glove.

Maybe Iortiz is right: rest him until the wrist is right.

If XB is injured I give him the time he needs to heal 100%.

Agreed. It doesn't help that Arroyo and Marwin are out hurt.

We can play Kike at SS and Chavis at 2B and maybe call up Arauz, but Ughhh!

Cora has the most info, Cora makes the calls.

You both are right.

Maybe they wait for Arroyo or Marwin to return to give Bogey a 10 day IL stint.
