Perez vs German

It's only fitting that Pedroia's #1 fan gets to make today's game thread.

I’ll be rocking his shirt tonight!!!! Last night left a sour taste in my mouth. Let’s get a win tonight.

I'd love to see the SOX put #15 on the facade sooner rather than later. For years I've questioned why #24 wasn't retired. Doesn't make any sense. The criteria at one point was that the player had to have been inducted into the HOF and finished his career in Boston. Obviously, that's no longer valid.

Pedey was one of the best who ever wore a SOX uniform and no one played the game harder or better.

And for 24, you have Manny AND Dewey.

For those going to tonight’s Red Sox-Yankees game at Fenway, the pregame ceremony honoring Dustin Pedroia is planned to start at 6:30.

I'm guessing all of us MLB.tv friends will need to find another way to watch this.

Cora on Pedroia: ‘He’s in my Hall of Fame, not only as a player but as a person.’

Nola of the Phillies has just struck out the 1st 9 Mets' batters. He broke the Phillies' record of 7 and is one strike out away from tying Seaver's major league record of 10.

He did it.

Perhaps MLB hitters should stop swinging to hit everything to the moon if they don't want to K so often. It ain't that the pitching is so great. Don't want to K so often? TAKE BETTER SWINGS and BE MORE SELECTIVE! Most especially, take better swings.

IMO Rafi takes the best swings of the Sox hitters as an example. They are vicious hard swings but they are level swings and that is what makes him such a dangerous and effective hitter. All of these upper cut HR swings are simply making it easier for pitchers to K hitters. They also make it impossible for. hitters to reach high heat even if its a strike at the letters.

Rafi is vulnerable to high heat but he simply swings at too many pitches above the letters. Once he learns the David Ortiz rule of LH hitting, he will likely be even more of a monster than he is today.

Pizza, whiskey and Sox/Yankees. Doesn’t get any better than that.

Arroyo placed on 10 day IL. Arroyo is one of those fragile players that when he slides into a base, you hold your breath hoping he's not injured. Edited by SPLENDIDSPLINTER

What do I find similar about Voit, Gardner, and Stanton?

Answer: They all have a face I'd like to punch until my arm falls off.

Feels like one of those games the Sox really need to win to wash off the stench of last night's giveaway. Restart the dominance of the Yankees and bury them.

I feel personally attacked for not being able to see the pregame ceremony.

Dustin to early induction to Red Sox Hall of Fame....WELL DESERVED IMO

Backing up Chavis and Gonzales at #1 and #9 is a rare stroke of thinking by Cora . Could be a rally killer in front of the 3 or 4 guys who can actually hit. If Michael and Marwin go 0-10 with 5 K's tonight, somebody has to answer for Fredo
