Another new rule to add purity to the game is that once a reliever is brought in he must face at least 3 batters.

I remember when the DH was implemented in the AL. Cries of they're taking the 'purity' out of the game. If they could have only seen what was the future for MLB.

Thanks Cora for throwing in the towel and bringing Andriese to the game

If Andriese is not DFA'd after tonight, Bloom shares in the blame.

(That being said, I'm still very happy with the Bloom-Cora dynamic.)

This chUMP like so many of his ilk does suck, but on that pitch to Arroyo I believe a robo ump would have called it a strike.

The thing is, he had to swing (and foul off) several out-of-zone pitches for fear they'd be called strikes, earlier.

Most professions have the inevitable inept employee, who eventually gets fired. No non-political profession that I'm aware of has more inept employees than MLB umpires, and they are seldom if ever fired. It's truly a disgrace. Edited by SPLENDIDSPLINTER

It's kind of funny that MLB is implementing these new s*****(imho) rules to speed up the game, but then turns a blind eye to the weakest part of the game that really needs fixing, the umpiring. Edited by SPLENDIDSPLINTER

Humans make mistakes. Calling balls & strikes is not easy.

Robo umps are the only way to solve this problem, IMO.

And I am expecting that the pitcher inspections by the umpires will slow down the game even more. Are these going to be full pat downs with chemical swabs. Will they go to the mound with TSA employees?

So no Red Sox pitchers have ever thrown a curveball their entire lives without using stick-em? In our town, Little League bans curves for ages 10-12 (caution for young elbows), but in national All-Star competition this summer, curves are allowed. After one week of practice, a few kids are already spinning some down in the zone. None of them use Gorilla Glue.

Apparently, Kansas City is where Boston sports teams go to shoot themselves in the foot, post-COVID
