RHP Trent Thornton (0-0, 2.35) vs RHP Garrett Richards (0-1, 6.00)

It's an opener/bullpen day for Toronto. Let's take advantage and give Richie some run support!

I do think the Jays have the edge in starters tonight. Thornton is coming from the bullpen, ERA 2.35, but lead the Jays in starts in 2019. Richards is a frightener.

As moonslav warned, the Rays are right on our tail with a 5 game winning streak after destroying the Royals last night, 14-7. They are 10-8 despite having a negative run differential.

The A's have won 10 straight and are atop the AL West with Seattle at 11-7. Is Moneyball rearing its ugly/beautiful head once again?

Weather looks to be an issue tonight all of a sudden. Line of thunderstorms moving through New England this afternoon as a big cold front comes through. Worst of it will be through between 6:00 - 6:30, so maybe a little bit of a late start?

I use the NOAA map, which says what you say except that to me it seems to be showing the bad stuff moving NNE, which could bypass the Fens.

A late start is fine with me.

Radar looks even better now. The Weather Channel App is showing me nothing past 6, at least in Boston. I have severe thunderstorm watches up where I live, however, 90 minutes SW

The Frightener has a 1.80 ERA in his last 2 starts!

Thornton is the opener for Anthony Kay FYI. Not sure how long Kay will pitch though. He's a future starting pitcher but they've been keeping his load light. I watched him dominate at UConn in my youth Edited by Thunder

Not sure why Arroyo need a rest, but I trust Cora.

Heavy stuff is heading into Boston now, and should be gone by 7, but the radar shows light to moderate rain persisting through the night

Sometimes, AC's lineups are based less on rest and more on giving others workouts. And surely that reply could make me more of a more on.

I have no complaints. Cora is king.

He picks and chooses where he thinks players have the best chance to be successful.

It works!

Is this the weather channel?

Well I'm disappointed because I may be going to the game on Saturday, and I would much rather see Eovaldi on the hill than Perez, who presumably would be pushed back a day to Saturday with a PPD tonight

At least it won't be like that getaway day game we went to in '17, when the Sox decided at the last minute not to pitch Sale in his prime, and we got to see Fister instead...

Maybe they won't mess with Eovaldi's timing.

I was hoping for that too, but then whose turn would you skip? As much as us fans would love to see Richards miss a start or two, he's our biggest FA signing at pitcher, so we have to give him starts. So then do you skip Pivetta or Perez? Pivetta needs a chance to bounce back after Saturday's start IMO. Perez has also been too solid to skip a turn. Will be interesting to see what happens. Of course, none of that will matter if we find a way to play at least 5 innings tonight. Blue Jays are off tomorrow, so if they have to delay first pitch until 9:00 or so, they should be ok with that.

You don't skip anyone. You just keep Eovaldi in the closest spot to 5 days rest and slot all the others in their original order. Since we had the recent double header, they'd be close to their normal start day, anyway.

Don’t blame you. Granted Perez first two starts were solid! His last start was ugly though.

East Coast weather is dismal during much of the baseball season. West Coast postponements are rare.

It's New England in April. Can't expect much
