Dude has a bigger injury history than Eovaldi.

Cordero is considered to have elite speed, leading all the minor leagues in triples in 2016 and 2017, and ranking in the top 3% of qualified major league players in sprint speed in 2017.[16] He has also shown elite power, ranking 35th in average batted ball exit velocity in 2017, and 20% of his batted balls exiting at 105+ mph.[17]

Trivia: Franchy Cordero played 165 games at shortstop in the minors:

Chad Jennings:

I 'm hearing the Red Sox will end up with more than two players in the Benintendi deal. Could be as many as five. As others have reported, the deal isn't completely done yet

Ew. And sign EE to dh?

I was making a joke that Cordero is bad in the field. I would’ve just kept Beni. Not like Cordero is a young prospect or anything. He and Beni are same age

From MLBTR

8:35pm: It seems there are still some moving pieces to this arrangement. The Sox stand to acquire several additional players in addition to those already reported, Chad Jennings of The Athletic tweets.

With a weak roster like ours, a 1 for 5 deal does make some sense, especially if Bloom is working his mo-jo magic on these under-the-radar players.

Fingers crossed as I await the finalities.

Bye-bye Beni.

The Red Sox parted with the only legitimate major leaguer in the deal.

Cordero is a major leaguer. He's actually a pretty good player. That said, I would not like a deal of just him and Winckowski - whom I never heard of but does not appearto be much statisticaly - for Benintendi, as it is a definite low sell...

I'll wait to see full package before fully judging this deal, but I really hope Cordero isn't the centerpiece, he isn't very good and is extremely injury prone.

Cordero had a 972 OPS in AAA in 2017. He’s been injured almost ever since. 18-20 all cut short due to injury.

And his MLB debut was in Petco, which can suppress some hitting stats...

Clearing space for an acquisition or two?

Cordero is the same age as Beni and has produced absolutely nothing at the MLB level. He'll be 27 this year and has played in 95 career games. He has a 35% career strikeout rate, is bad fielder and can't stay healthy.

Kind of a weird line in 2017:

21 doubles

18 triples

17 home runs

390 ABs

(15 SB/118 Ks)

No, he isn’t. He’s the same age as Benintendi and completely unaccomplished. He strikes out more than a third of the time. He’s not close to Benintendi’s caliber.

I thought the Sox we getting 5 players to boot our s***** bottom 4 players from our 40 man roster (assuming all are 40 man players).

So speaking as a fan (and not as a pretend GM), now that the RS have rid themselves of the majority of players I have watched and followed with interest over the past few years, why would I follow this team rather than any other one?

If we save some cash on the budget, maybe the money will be used to sign Odorizzi. (We are $8M under the line plus $5M fofr Beni = $13M Odorizzi is expected to make per year.)

Renfroe's .717 v RHPs is not all that awful. Who knows: it might end up being better than Beni v RHPs in 2021.

Maybe Cordero's small sample size defensive metrics are misleading.

The K rate is hard to ignore.

Let's see who else we get, and if we are giving any cash.

I think the rest would be prospects not on 40 man.

Why? Does it really matter whether we get one crappy player or one crappy player plus another even less distinguished one?
