Speier:

Major league source confirms that the Red Sox are dealing Andrew Benintendi to the Royals. Return is expected to be multiple players. KC likely to receive some financial relief.

I don't necessarily think it's a bad move, just trying to understand the motivation behind it

Don’t know until return is announced

Pete Abraham:

Benintendi is only a $5M hit on the luxury tax payroll, so if the Sox are including cash, they must be getting a solid return.

KC system is pretty deep.

Benintendi tumbled after the 2018 season, although hard to pin much on 14 games last year, bad as they were.

Outfield prospect Khalil Lee is expected to go to the New York Mets in the three-way deal with Boston and KC that would send Andrew Benintendi to the Royals. Outfielder Franchy Cordero would go to the Red Sox once the deal is finalized, sources tell ESPN

No pitching? And what are the Mets sending where?

Cordero has a negative UZR150 in CF.

I hope we get more.

BTV had Lee rated much higher than Cordero.

One plus from the deal would be to free up money for a signing, but it sounds like money is part of the deal. If we are paying part of Beni's deal, I'm confused.

Lol Frenchy Cordero? There better be some prospects involved.

The article on MLBTR refers to Cordero as “part of the return.”

Dude has a bigger injury history than Eovaldi.

Cordero is considered to have elite speed, leading all the minor leagues in triples in 2016 and 2017, and ranking in the top 3% of qualified major league players in sprint speed in 2017.[16] He has also shown elite power, ranking 35th in average batted ball exit velocity in 2017, and 20% of his batted balls exiting at 105+ mph.[17]
