As an FYI:

JBJ 12M

Leon 2.8M

Hembree 1.6M

Barnes 3M

Workman 3.4M

Erod/Betts/Beni will def be given arbitration.

Trade Simulator has him with a plus value of $2M. I think he gets traded not non-tendered.

$11M seems pretty steep for JBJ. Defensive CFer who hits 9th would make far less in FA.

I would say Barnes and Workman both are 100% likely to be tendered contracts. The odds are much, much less for Leon and Hembree...

I tend to agree for Barnes and workman.

He wouldn't hit 9th for most teams. An OPS of around .730 is about average for CF, these days.

If you slide ab’s to 200 pa’s, he’s not top 30.

For fWAR, he’s 26th.

I voted no, but...

Boston Strong @BostonStrong_34

Ken Rosenthal reports that the Red Sox reportedly being interested in OF Avisail Garcia could be related to non-tendering Jackie Bradley Jr.

(the initial Rosenthal report appears to be behind The Athletic's paywall)

Is Bloom about to move his asssssssss?

Not really so sure about his continued fascination with Avisail Garcia...

Garcia is a good hitter, minus to average defender who can play RF and shift Mookie to CF. He’s also expected to cost about half as much as Bradley and he outperformed him last year in a smaller sample size

He has a 104 OPS+, which makes him barely above average as a hitter. Basically, he's Kole Calhoun but without the defense....

Stat Masterson shutting this speculation down:

Alex Speier @alexspeier

The deadline to tender contracts to arbitration-eligible players is tonight. There’d been some question among MLB teams about whether the Red Sox might non-tender Jackie Bradley Jr. That’s not going to happen: Per source, the Red Sox are tendering a 2020 contract to Bradley.

Didn't Mookie gun down many people at 3b?

Not with throws from the RF corner that went directly to the corner of the 3b bag on the fly. The throw in this case was pretty epic...

I will predict the Red Sox tender JBJ a contract and then deal him to Arizona for Jake Lamb...

I read JBJ has been tendered a contract. The trade possibilities are likely. Leon has been traded to Cleveland.

I'd be perfectly happy to take a risk on Lamb for any ball club, but not at an estimated $5 mil and not for a club trying to eek below the LT.

Consider this. If you are going to spend ANY extra dough in 2020, you need to be absolutely certain that the extra money is gonna work. If this is a mandate, then every penny spent is potentially the last penny you have

I don't think they're going to squeeze under. I think Betts is very likely dealt, which will allow them some leeway. and there is no such thing as certainty any money player will work...

Sox aren't acquiring a below-average defensive outfielder to play right field in Fenway if they plan on contending. Putting someone new in left and moving Benintendi to center makes way more sense.

Is this in reference to Avisail Garcia?

I'm not wild about him, so I hope you're right. But he is a player Bloom has a history with...

Beni is trash in CF.

Beni in CF can never make sense.

Right. Jax suggested moving Mookie to center. I'd be shocked if the Sox move the best rightfielder in baseball the past four seasons -- maybe ever in Boston -- unless it's out of town (then I'd be glum). We all know right is just as important as center in Fenway.

I'm not wild about Garcia, and the Sox have had plenty of good defensive RFers even before Betts, including JD Drew, Trot Nixon, and Shane Victorino. During the years the Sox used lesser defensive right fielders like Billy Hatcher, Darren Bragg and Cody Ross, the team was usually not very good.

I don't think they leave RF up for anyone with a bat. At least I hope not...

It might happen, and he might surprise. There was a time when the Guardians thought Coco Crisp would never make it as a centerfielder because of his defense.

The Red Sox did win a title with Johnny Damon in CF. A good defensive CF is always a plus, and certainly something I would want. But if the Sox have Betts in RF, maybe Benintendi in CF won't be as horrible as many are predicting...
