The Yanks put up their #2 starter against a late season pickup of a pitcher released by the Brewers. Cora made it a BP game. The Yanks had 3 hits while the Sox seemed to on enough to make it look like we were the far better team. Hope it can be done again tomorrow afternoon.

This game and the last of the Twins game are possibly pointing us to post season series reminiscent of the 2012 Yankees/Orioles Division Series match up. Remember that one.

They were two of the most potent offenses in baseball that year and a major slugfest was anticipated by all. Instead, fairly mundane pitching plans from both sides simply laid waste to two lineups that could not in any way shape or form deal with what either team's pitchers were throwing. Ibanez and Jeter basically bailed the Yanks asses out of what was in the end a mind-numbing series of Bugs Bunny swings and futile AB' on all sides. No question that the Yanks had the better pitching with CC and Petitte in their rotation. But it was not so much that the pitching was stunning for its quality as the hitting was stunning for its utter futility and the ease with which the pitchers all around simply crushed the hitters like lint between their toes.

Of course, this year nobody has starters other than the Astros in the AL and maybe the A's now that Manaea is back and to some extent the Guardians and Rays depending on who or what comes off the IL to pitch. So I expect that we will see bullpen games and openers of all sorts which (sorry folks) is not an advancement of the game of any sort. Its a response to the lack of actual quality pitching around MLB.

But these last two series, Twins and Yankmees foreshadows what is likely to come in this year's post season, Manfred Missile HR's be damned. Hitters swatting flies with their bats and trudging back to the dugout.

Eck hit the nail on the head. German is cruising into the 4th. Bogaerts smashes a double. German proceeds to get the next two guys out with Bogaerts moving to third. He walks Beni and then becomes fixated on Beni for some reason. Eck was commenting that German was changing his release and his motion and was questioning what he was doing. 2 outs, first and third, and he’s not focusing on the batter. Single, bomb from there and game over. German has always been the guy who has the one bad inning. Last year, it sunk him. This year, he’s mostly navigated it well. Last night was a bit of a reversion to his prior, which I hope isn’t a harbinger

Yankem feed in the 9th showed highlights of Dent's HR and Pinella's catch from the '78 playoff game. Keep living in the past, asswipes.

That play by Piniella was just crazy.

Harbinger - excellent word Jax.

Just so you know Yankee game threaders are every bit as negative as Red Sox game threaders, even with their big fat lead, here's a sample of some of the last posts from the NYY Fans Forum last night:

-This sluggish performance stuff is exactly what worries me come playoff time. If they can’t get “up” for the Red Sox they can’t get up for anyone. Plus Boone basically throwing in the towel when it’s only 4-1.

-Looks like the Yankees just wanted 2 days off in a row here.

-Wasn’t Chance Adams the big hot prospect a few seasons ago?

-Of all the guys who stepped up this season and everyone is wondering if they're for real, Voit is the guy I'm most concerned about. He's looked terrible since before the all star break and shows no signs at all of hitting for power or anything else.

-Considering the pitchers that were used against us tonight that is about as sad of an offensive performance as you'll ever get. 3 hit by Pawtucket. Pathetic!

Oddly or maybe not, the aforementioned 2012 Yankmees/Orioles DS was the one and only time I was ever interesting in viewing WHATEVER was on a Yankmee board.

I only go on there when there's some pain to be enjoyed. Schadenfreude at its finest.
