Please no. Let’s finish this.
Imagine if the Royals get out of this and the game is suspended. The Royals and Sox will be forced to reconvene in Fenway on an off day for a 10th inning tie game

This season can't end soon enough. What a total disaster from day 1. Not prepared, lackadaisical play, stupid mistakes, uncaring attitude. bad decisions, no starting pitching, no bullpen. Did I leave anything out?

Like Splinter said....if the Sox were a horse, he would shoot it.

We can't put anybody away and I do mean anybody. We would probably be down two going to the bottom of the 10th to Sisters of the Poor, actually make that Sisters of the Poor Senior League team. We are just so pathetic its funny.

$240M worth of pure bull crap for a season. Just goes to show you how coming in to a season fat dumb and happy if not utterly bloated can f*** you up for the entirely of a 162 game season.

Probably not, pains me to say it but neither of these two teams is likely to impact standings by season end. They will just end up finishing one game short each.

The only real viable option is August 15. Sox are at Cleveland the day before and home on the 16th. KC is in the middle of a home stand.

The only other common days are August 22 and September 2.

Royals are at Baltimore the day before and go home on the 23rd. Red Sox are traveling to San Diego for game on the 23rd.

9/2 the Sox are getting done with a west coast swing that ends on the 1st. KC again is in the middle of a home stand.

Or they could just decide to wait and play it after the season ends if it matters (it won’t)

It would have been awfully hard for him to stay as hot as he was.

He has been chasing pitches off the plate lately

We've got some serious s*** to iron out here folks.

If they don't resume, what are the forum rules for starting the next game thread?

It’s a tie so Splinter needs to kiss his sister and then start tomorrow’s thread?

They should only play this to a finish if it would impact the season outcomes for either of these catfish teams. Why mess up a perfectly good rest day in sunny SoCal. But if they don't play it out the stats would be short a few data points , like blown saves.

No, the stats count whether they play or not. It’s an official game. Eovaldi gets a blown save because he allowed the tie run to score.

There hasn't been a tie game in almost 30 years. I'm guessing they send both teams out there regardless of their records. Why would these teams/MLB pass up the chance to make some more money???

So how does this work, can players who were already used and removed from the original game come back and play in this one?

thats a good question. pretty sure at least one of their players that was in the original lineup has been traded....

Didn't they trade Billy Hamilton? I don't know the rule, but I suppose they can bring a replacement player in for him. Happens so rarely that even us oldtimers don't know how it works.

Good question....... such a strange scenario.

MLB site has the 2 original starters listed but not sure if it just defaults to that?

will be interesting to see. i guess Eck will spend some time trying to splain it to us.

Both teams have to use the same line-up and players at the time the game was suspended. Substitutions can be used, but only if they hadn't played in the game prior to suspension.
