Can we lay to rest the idea that our offense need tinkering with?

We are going to have to sink or swim with our rotation, and I still think there is time to turn things around, but I keep waiting for that moment to arrive, and waiting, and waiting...

TB, CLE & TEX all lost, Oak won, so I guess there is hope...

CLE & OAK tied for WC lead.

TBR & BOS 2 games behind.

CLE & OAK have easier schedules remaining, so we have our work cut out for us.

The division is gone. We can make a WC. The problem is that the idea that "anything can happen" if you can get to the WC is IMO a fallacy. While I don't get to see every team play every game like I do with the Sox every team with a shot at the end has to show some championship timber sometime during the season. The Sox have not shown one iota of championship timber in 100 games, not once, not from John Henry who clearly has said No Mas to DD as far as spending more this season, to DD who just settled on bringing back his binkys to Cora and the coaching staff that have been doing I don't know what to too many of the players who are preoccupied with something other than getting back to the big dance.

I can't really blame Henry. He is a businessman and I expect him to act like one. As for the rest....not real impressed this year.

Teams have been known to improve as the year goes on, and WC teams have won rings, too, including us.

I haven't seen signs of us being a strong contender, but it's not impossible. I haven't given up yet, but I do think we should plan to sell off a few pieces, if we flop in the next 10 days.

While Henry has cut off major spending, it doesn't mean we can't trade for something very good right now.

I admit, it doesn't look good, but we still have some very strong players and can turn it around.

How do you figure this version of the Sox to be 9 over in away games, and 1 under .500 at Fenway. What's the correlation ?

Randomness at its finest.

IMO there's not much doubt that the Sox will have to play better than they have been playing in order to get a WC spot. Call me an optimist but I think that will happen. I'lll tell you this about the 2019 Red Sox, If it happens The Red Sox are going to be the team that nobody wants to play in the playoffs.

I think you’re gonna see two teams around 92-95 wins in the WC game. The Guardians schedule is abysmal and they’re getting Kluber and Carrasco back. The A’s play more mediocrity and are getting Manaea back plus this has been their MO of late season surges. The Sox are not gonna fall into a PO spot this year. They’re gonna have to earn it

Very true.

Minnesota and the Rays are the teams that are tumbling right now.

It's possible Cleveland wins the division, Oakland is the first WC and we're battling Minnesota and the Rays for the second WC.

I like the way you think.

We still have 3 games in Cleveland, which will be hugely important

Well for one thing I guess we won't be missing Steven Wright who could not have pitched effectively today even if he was not nursing his big toe. 110 with a 70+% dew point is no bargain especially for the pitchers.
