Honestly , it is hard for me to generate much enthusiasm for these kind of games . The Tigers are just plain awful . What has happened to the A.L. ? Top heavy with a handful of good teams . And over loaded with too much tanking trash at the bottom . A pennant race in reverse . Who can lose the most games ? Place your bets . The Tigers can't even win at home .

We're 2.5 down on TB ( 2 in the loss column)

We're 2 down from CLE (3 in the loss column)

Only 2 NL teams have a better winning% than the Sox.

What are our chances against the Dodgers after the break? Could be a huge confidence boost winning that series.

That is because the N.L. is actually competitive . The A.L. has way too much garbage . Too many teams that don't even want to win .

I don't disagree, but the AL has more exciting teams while the NL is wallowing in mediocrity.

We have a decent chance to beat the Dodgers as long as our starters go 6 plus and we pick up 1 BP arm .Yes Hembre may even help with that .Hembre ,workman are two solid arms .I do hope the Evo experiment pans out .Evo and Mitchy 4 bags could really help this team go on a run .

or continue the run we are on.

We've won 3 straight and 14 out of 21. (3 of those 7 losses were by 1 run, and even in the Yankee games, we had our chances.)

Funny thing about this offense. We are one of 3 teams to score 500 runs before the all star game. The other two teams are the Yankees and Twins. We have scored more runs than the stros and dodgers.

Is he expected back after the break?

One thing about this team in the second half. They need to start playing better at home. A 20-22 at home is pathetic.

This is so true and mind boggling bad .I hope they can win a lot this second half

Wow you guys know that hot social media girl Kacie McDonnell? Apparently she's dating Eric Hosmer. Wouldn't be surprised if her days at NESN are numbered... #JennyDell

And wow what a win today! Great way to head into the ASG. First game I've watched in almost a month and it felt a little like last year. You can say what you want about this team, but we have taken care of business against the teams we're supposed to be beating

Did Cora say why he took out Price after the 5th inning — pitch count, he was gassed, resting him for later in the season, or something else?

Likely didn’t wanna extend him. He was at 99 pitches.

It seems like Price is on a 100 pitch count, and others around 110-115.

I don't think anyone has given a reason for the kid gloves with Price.

Complete confidence in the greatest pen the Sox have ever had!

Our RP do not have put away pitch

Our starters with one exception don't have a put away pitch and that one starter ain't exactly blowing our dresses up this year.

Red Sox pitchers actually lead baseball in strikeouts. But that's a major FWIW.

To me, a true Put Away IS NOT a pitch thrown off the plate as the hitter can just decide to ignore it. A true Put Away is a pitch that can beat the hitter in the strike zone, as in an "I need to get rid of you right now Mr Hitter" pitch.

Plus we know the trail we have taken to all these K's in MLB and they have much more to do with hitters trying to keep MLB, their agents and their wallets happy than anything else.

Wish they lead in wins. We would be in a playoff spot lol.

Next 20 of 34 games are against A Division Leader, or a WC Leader, or in the hunt. If you count the Angels its, 24 out of 34. This is huge part of season. Those 10 games between the O's, Toronto, and KC, you better win. Edited by OH FOY!

14 games between Yanks and Tampa by Aug 4. Might determine if we sell or buy. 2 weeks straight either Yanks or Rays, wow. Our record right now is 5-11 against both of them. Edited by OH FOY!

Miggy has been acting like a psych this season. Whalen he is not yucking it up as his team is getting plastered, he is uncle to control his anger over balls and strikes. The guy seems unstable. To bad, because he was such a consistently excellent player for many years.

LOL Auto correct?

I was reading that Miggy has been doing this quite often this year. Frustration seems to have set in.

Crazy as this sounds not sure you want Tampa to win, Guardians winning too. Sox gain nothing on WC. Just the Yanks.

I know, but I can't help feeling good when the Yankees lose anyway.

It doesn't matter to me. I was pulling for the Rays to win every game that series. Or more like I was pulling for the Yankees to lose.

Well going into the all star break on a hot streak. Let’s keep it going folks.

It wasn't always pretty, but we'll take the sweep anyway we can get it. It's great to go into the break on a high note. The Dodgers will be out for blood in our next series. Hopefully, the Sox will be up to the challenge.

Now the question is, what to do for the next 4 days with no baseball.

The offense seems to have finally hit its stride. If the 4 starters could consistently pitch to their abilities, and we can solidify the 5th rotation spot, we're as good as any team out there.

FTR, Pythagoras says the forever lucky Yankees should be 54-34 and the Red Sox should be 50-40. The Yankees have not been outplaying us by as much as it feels like they have.

These games will be very significant. Each game against a contender amounts to a two game swing.

If I had to guess, and I haven't been right all that much at this, I'm thinking we got at least 6-5. I guess we could go 5-6 or even 4-7 and win just about every other game and still be "in it," but beating our competition is the best way to gain vital ground.

Another way to look at it is that we need to hammer the Rays and not lose ground to the Rays when we play the Yanks.

5 of the 14 games you mention come after the trade deadline. Here is alook at the games played before the deadline:

BOS:

3 v LAD

4 v TOR

3@ BAL

3@ TBR

4 v NYY

2 v TBR

TBR

4@ BAL

4@ NYY

3v CWS

3v BOS

2@ TOR

2@ BOS

CLE

3v MN

4v DET

3v KC

3@ TOR

4@ KC

2v HOU

NYY

3v TOR

4v TBR

3v COL

3@ MN

4@ BOS

2v AZ

It won't be easy, but I think we can gain a lot of ground on the Yanks and TBR, if we can keep playing well.
