That’s fair. Their play tonight wasn’t that great so I won’t argue that.

Bottom line is that it is a game, some of these folks in here act like it's life and death, some folks suspect me,because I don't join in on the piss and moan fest with them. Some folks would consider some of the responses I got for that post as bordering on paranoia. I would bet some of them are bandwagon f***s that jumped on board after 04. Damn Pink hats.

I hear you man. I love this board. And this team. Been cheering for them since 2002 (I was 15) but I was also attacked for creating a game day thread after we lost. This board can be very strange and people get over sensitive when this team isn’t doing well. I’m apart of another Sox board and nobody there is like that. Even the horrible start we had to the season they are pretty laid back. Not saying this board sucks because it doesn’t. There is some great posters on this site that I like. In fact most everyone in here I like. But with that said yes when we are struggling they get touchy that’s for sure.

No, the group is fine, I think the thing that is cracking me up is you got some calling to break up the team, they have short memories because basically this is the same team that won 108 games last year. Been a Red Sox fan since 1962, and seen them at fenway a couple hundred times from 62-71,before my parents sold the house in Westboro, and moved us to Las Vegas. Living out here where I could bet on Sports since 1977, you learn to look at games differently and not take it so much to heart.I understand the frustration, because I had the same expectations, but how I react to their play, does not change how they play, they can only do that on the field. If that SS for the W.Sox makes the correct play to 3B, hell they might still be playing.Baseball a funny game, but it's been very good to me,night Tyler.

In case nobody noticed, its the No-names that won this game for us AGAIN. The No-names plus X is about what this team has right now. If it had not been the horrid WS we were playing I am not at all convinced they would have pulled this out. Sox hitters are chasing crap all over creation and outside of a rare X or Vaz AB can only hit the sweetest cookies....their most particular pitches and the WS pitchers were quite accommodating in that regard.

From what I am seeing, if we ever hit another stretch of actual MLB pitching again these guys are cooked. Actually if we even hit a team that can field again, their little dribblers and nubbers will just be outs in the box score instead of hits. Its a win and I will gladly take it...but I am not seeing a team that can compete with the best this league has to offer.

But Giolito has been a good MLB pitcher this year.

Yup, he was on a really great role prior to his previous start.

Don't let facts get in the way of a good rant though!

Not in this game and if anything the WS pen is worse than ours.

I really do wonder how much the streamlined baseball is effecting pitching grips. If you look for it you can see pitchers unable to go from a particular grip to another particular grip in a given game. Porcello a few nights ago could not grip and throw a two-seam after a four-seem. Just totally lost the grip and command on a pitch that he probably came out of the womb throwing. Giolito could not throw FB's after a Slider. Just could not throw it....same problem. No command of a pitch he should have been able to command.

I have been waiting for this to happen. You can't just keep taking down the seams year after year and expect nothing to happen to pitchers. That said pitchers are "trying" to throw more breaking pitches instead of FB's than I have ever seen.....EVER, not just in the last few years but EVER.

So Giolito doesn't count as 'actual MLB pitching', even though he has excellent numbers on the season, because we scored some runs off him, which proves he wasn't pitching well, because we are s***. That about right?

He was good except for one inning (the 5th). Did you even watch the game?

Yea I did. Good has new meaning for pitchers since the so called "Quality Start". Take a look at how often our offense has scored 3 off a Starter of late and tell me more about how GOOD he was.

That said, I am becoming more and more suspicious about the effect of the these new baseballs not just on balls hit but on pitchers ability to move from grip to grip on a given night.

For the most we have done what we have usually done of late...we hit cherries, meatballs, the acknowledged best pitches for a specific Sox hitter to hit. The rest were dribbers and 12 hoppers. Of the regular starting lineup X did the best job of hitting on the night by far followed by Vaz. As for the rest, if they don't get their particular version of a meatball (see Mookies HR, Beni's double, the Chavis hit) they seem pretty helpless. In other words, within the regular starting lineup, for the most part, if you don't give them not just a good pitch to hit but what for each of them individually is the perfect pitch to hit, they seem pretty helpless.

I cannot call pitchers giving hitters the very pitch they should avoid like the plague "good pitching". Can't do it.

They are 6th in the majors in runs scored per game, so they are one of the better offenses. Obviously the faults you see in the hitters are shared by most hitters in baseball.

Wonder what happens if both games Yanks and Sox are rained out tonight? Double header tomorrow? After looking at Radar I think they get them both in.

He was looking good until he lost control and went to hell against us..... Happens with pitchers. We also were hitting the ball well last night and could have won by a mile. This team leaves so many players stranded at times it's frustrating. I have no doubt this team can hit the ball.... We are doing it a bit different this year. It's not Mookie and Martinez doing it but the other guys.... Holt, Vaz, Benni... Xander has been incredible this year. Regardless we are hitting the ball well. It just seems when the time comes to do some serious damage with bases loaded or 2 players on we never seem to get that big homer. Of course that goes out the window when you win but at the end of the day the White Sox are not a good team. Bottom of the barrel offensively and their defense isn't good either. They had a good pitcher up last night that's it.

Only the Mets have lost more games after the 7th inning. It’s 1976 all over again. We have a team full of talent that can’t get traction because the last 3 innings are always nightmarish.

So, am I understanding it correctly that blatantly flouting the long standing Game Thread starting etiquette is not a banning offense?

Possible correlation : Boston at 43 wins matches 2 other teams (Cubs,Guardians) and trail 6 others (NYY, Rays,Braves, Dodgers,Astros, Twins)in wins. So over a large enough sample (1/2 season) runs scored correlate to wins. Shouldn't be surprising.

One team that did not get a hangover from losing the WS to the red Sox are the Dodgers with best record in MLB at 54-26.

They are legit a scary team this year. The Dodgers just keep continuing to have great seasons. I can't see anyone beating them right now in a playoff series. Maybe the Cubs but they are so damn streaky.
