We are 6-4 in our last 10. That dreadful start really cost us...… Had we even started something like 6-4 we would be in a wildcard spot and just behind Tampa. That nasty slow start may cost us.

It's April and people are worried about being in the Wild Card spot in April.

What E-Rod does is force other Starters to go deep. Manager, has to constantly work his BP, so they can get rest. Games, that might be able to win, you have to Manage differently.

Me if I was his Manager, I would tell him before the game, your going 7 whether you throw 100 pitches or 200 Pitches. Cora last year, was disgusted with him. He doesn't take Coaching good. They keep tell him to pound the strike zone, for some reason, it don't take. Enough babying him.

It's not the ERA with him, its the residual effects, on his ineffectiveness to go deep.

Love his talent, but he is annoying. I hardly watch his games.

Not saying you’re wrong..... however.

After we were nearly swept by Seattle people said we will turn it around. Then we lost to Oakland. People said we will turn it around in Arizona. We also lost that series. We said we would turn it around at home. We split with the Jays and Detroit. Sort of got it together with a sweep over Tampa. Only to lose back to back to them a couple days ago.

Just curious...... when is it a good time to panic? Seems everyone just keeps saying “too early to panic, we will turn it around” but we don’t seem to turn the corner. So I ask.....: when can we start worrying about where we sit division wise? Telling you now if we are out by double digits come the All Star Break. I HIGHLY doubt we make playoffs.

Every fan has their own reactions.

I have kind of a neutral feeling about the 2019 team. I think they're obviously suffering from a major case of post-championship letdown. Also, everything went so well last year that the law of averages sort of dictated that some stuff would go wrong this year.

And yet there is still so much talent that if they get it together I think they can get a Wild Card spot at least.

But they're pretty hard to predict. I'm just gonna watch and see.

I'm the same way. Before I went to Spring Training, I told myself to be realistic this season. Even before the season started, odds were that we weren't going to repeat, since that is so hard to do. I had to temper my expectations, but I think it's helped me so far, and prevented me from absolutely losing my mind

i like to wait until we have a good stretch of warm/hot weather before i panic. mid June or so if we are playing like this (inconsistent) i will start to panic. i wont stop believing until we are mathematically eliminated because in my stupid brain we are always going to turn it around and win the world series, but i will be panicking about it...

They are 6-4 over the last 10. They are showing signs of improvement. It's easier to notice if you aren't constantly watching the standings.

I agree with all the comments above. I’m not in panick mode by any means. However being in the division we are with Tampa (who has the number one record in the league) and the Yankees who have won 9 of their last 10 it’s definitely getting tighter as the year goes even though it’s still super early. But anywho we won last night. Let’s go streaking!

Rays have a good young core. Yanks haven't won the division in quite a long time. Don't see them competing this year, honestly.

I agree. I have been saying that quite a bit this year.... However....somehow.... even with the injuries the Yanks have, they just keep continuing to win. I guess once a team hits their stride it's tough to stop them. I was hoping the Sox hit theirs with the sweep over Tampa.

I don't see the "don't see them competing" comment making any sense. They are already competing.

If we were to go out the rest of the season at the winning clip from last year (.667) we would win just over 100 games, I think 101 to be exact. Do we look like we are going to go out the rest of the season at .667? If we go out the rest of the season at the Yankee's clip from last year (.617, not a bad winning percentage at all) we would win 94 games for the year.

The Rays can pitch and they have that miserable dungeon that nobody knows how to play in but them. Their home record in 2018 was .630 and they will likely improve on that a little and will likely improve their road record a good deal. Pitching tends to work everywhere a team plays.

The Yankees can hit and they have that shoebox they play in that nobody knows better how to play in but them. They played to a .654 at home last year. Currently at .533 at home. That will likely improve some. At the end of the day the Yankees might be easier for us to get past than the Rays will be because the Rays pitching will be more reliable and that dungeon they play in is a miserable place to play for every visiting team.

I have not posted up our 2019 winning percentage as its just too ridiculous at the moment. But we won home games last year at a rate of 7:10. That is a staggeringly good home record. I am not convinced we have anything like that in us this year. We are giving up too may bases for one thing and we are giving up ground that will make it hard to get all the way back to the top of the AL East pyramid this year given the competition.

So I would contend that it is without question a competition between all three teams in the East with the likelihood that only two teams will make it into the final 5. If I had to guess, we get past one of them but not both of them.

Well said! Not to mention, the Yankees have a lot of injuries..... They are still winning games and are 9-1 in their last 10. One would believe they will only get better as the season goes on. The Yankees were a playoff team last year so there is really no reason to doubt them again this year especially with how they are playing right now. It doesn't make me feel much better about our chances saying "I doubt the Yanks will compete or hold up this kind of play the rest of the year" because it seems as the season progresses the Yanks just keep winning. Right now however the Sox just need to focus on themselves and their play. The offense needs to be more consistent (big time) and same with the rotation (Price basically is the only starter I trust right now) E-Rod seemed to have got it together, but then last night happened..... Porcello has been pretty good, we will see what he can deliver tonight for us. Regardless, until this team gets a bit more consistent on both sides of the ball I am not worried about the Rays or the Yanks because we won't make the playoffs regardless if they slow down with our play right now. We obviously are playing better but we are still playing .500 baseball. Until that improves that just won't be good enough to get us into the playoffs.

What scares me is how well the Yankees are playing with mostly AAA position players. When they get healthy, we're going to be hearing a lot of "There it goes.... SEE YA" and "It is high, it is far, it is GONE"

Exactly! And the Sox (at least not yet) have shown me nothing but inconsistency.... Hope they turn it around at some point in which it's not too late.

Doesn't it always seem like, when we are playing inconsistently, we show nothing but inconsistency?

(Until we don't.)
