Now we're rolling. It's time for Mariners fans to go take a Leake. Win. Dance. Repeat. x2

They definitely sprung a leake late. Wetting their own beds. Yikes.

Depends on which Mike Leake shows up ... and which Eduardo Rodriguez shows up.

Last year Seattle righthander Mike Leake tossed eight shutout innings (3H/2BB/5K) against the World Series champion Red Sox in a matchup with Eduardo Rodriguez at Fenway Park:

Six days earlier in Seattle the Red Sox scored five runs off Leake in six innings (8H/1BB/1K) as Rodriguez coasted to a win:

Harm , Tough to be a Mariners fan these days . They sell naming rights to the ballpark to raise cash . Then they trade their lights out closer to the Mets just so they can save some money on Cano . Last night it already cost them a game they should have won . Lots of empty seats . Wonder how many there will be later in the season .

Like most clubs, the Mariners have sold the naming rights to their stadium since the venue opened in 1999.

The Edwin Diaz trade was not about cash but about the long-term health of the franchise with the addition of prospects Jarred Kelenic and Justin Dunn.

Despite last night's blown save, Seattle closer Hunter Strickland leads the majors in saves as the righthander awaits a likely trip to the Injured List.

It's not tough to follow a 3-1 team that averages eight runs a game despite low expectations. Even though the Mariners are "stepping back" this season, this year's Pythagorean record may well top last year's 77-85 record.

But it's all about the future with a beefed-up farm system and long-term assets such as Mitch Haniger, Domingo Santana, Marco Gonzales, Yusei Kikuchi, Mallex Smith and Omar Narvaez.

We'll see empty seats at T-Mobile Park again this year as the Mariners probably finish in the middle third of American League attendance. I'll be filling my seat at Sunday's series finale.

Boston lefthander Eduardo Rodriguez and Seattle righthander Mike Leake faced each other twice last season, once in Seattle and once in Boston, with these aggregate stats:

ER 2 GS, 10 IP, 5.40 ERA, 1.60 WHIP, 1-1 W/L, 13 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 11 K, 3 BB

ML 2 GS, 14 IP, 3.21 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 1-1 W/L, 11 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 6 K, 3 BB

Once again they give up a run.

Apparently we want to do things the difficult way this series and get behind early. Frustrating.

Coming from behind builds character

I remember buster olney saying benintendi was going to be a perennial batting champion.

I don't see it. Good player but I think a lot of people overrated him.

Didn’t you also think JBJ shouldve been off the team last year early in the season?

This year was supposed to be different for E-Rod , with him being fully fit.

He’s started off as the same inefficient nibbler he has always been .

It’s been one inning of his 2019 season
