The O’s are trying to get him to recoup some value to deal his contract, but he keeps getting worse. They’re better off dumping him and giving his spot to a kid with a future there

They’d probably just dump him but he still has 3 years $69mill left on his deal after this season...

Paxton impressed me in this one. Wild as hell in the first, gives up 3 runs while allowing only one hard hit ball. He then bears down and allows 1 run over the next 4 innings to keep us in it. Gleyber getting hot is good, but Sanchez going deep to CF for his third bomb is even bigger. He’s finally healthy and that’s good news for us.

Now if he could only figure out how to throw the ball to 2nd base and not the CF'er......

Sanchez’ arm has never been the issue, so I’ll wait a bit on that. Another WP that was blockable yesterday allowing a run to score was a bigger concern for me

Well, he has 0 PB's for the year and the staff has 3 WP's. Meanwhile he has 4 throwing errors.

The arm is never an issue until it is..........

oh man! I just checked Chris Davis numbers -2.8 bWAR since he signed his contract (7/161) the worst part is that they still have 4 more years to go (including 2019)

I was thinking that the worst contract in ML was Elssbury, the good news about this contract (7/153) is that he will be gone after next season (hopefully before then)

Why go to Kahnle with a 1 run lead with a guy on base? What the f***!!!

I saw no problem with going to Kahnle there.

You can't baby these guys all year, they're on the roster for a reason, to get guys out.

I get that we cannot baby these guys, but Kahnle is a special case. He’s a guy working back from injury with serious control issues. You don’t bring him in early in the year outside of clean innings or mop up duty. Ottavino was available. It worked out, but for April, I only bring Kahnle in for clean innings or blowouts until he proves his injury/control issues are through

Boone said Green was unavailable due to his recent workload and he wanted to avoid using Ottavino or Holder unless it was an emergency. That way with Friday's day off it was an opportunity to "reset" the bullpen. It's a long season and it was a good move by Boone.

Pretty poor game today all around. Terrible defense, base running, and of course bullpen management. Luckily Boone and Co. got bailed out by a few timely dingers. They better get their s*** together because this won't fly against a real opponent.

Sanchez picked off again. Where does he think he’s going? He’s been picked off twice in two games? With Andujar likely returning as a DH, Sanchez behind the dish is going to be the norm going forward

Once Bird bobbled the ball, he needed to just step on the bag. Not getting an out there cost us a second run that inning. Thankfully, Clint came through

Clint Frazier needs to be in the lineup for every game until we get some reinforcements back. He’s shown enough to earn PT over Tauchman and if it wasn’t for him last night, we lose. Clint’s WAR may be 0.0 on the season, but he’s at a 1 in my book

Sanchez is really swinging the bat well. Average isn’t there, but 4 bombs in 9 games is a nice thing now. Really hoping German can go 6+ here so we can save the pen for the Astros series

I like their manager. He’s got the kids playing hard and today was the first game where they quit. I think they’ll still lose 100, but the guy has the right attitude and the right philosophy for the rebuild. Run a lot, play hard, don’t quit. That being said, we have 4 all star position players, a CY candidate and #5 starter on the shelf, so them taking two from us isn’t all that impressive

I'm calling it - Yankees do not go below .500 between now and the end of the regular season.

We are only one game over .500 and go to Houston for 3, so I don’t completely share your optimism. I’d assume we might hover for a bit until we get healthy

Frazier goes 4 for 5 with two more bombs bringing him up to 7 for 17 with 3HR since he came back to the bigs. With Hicks likely out another couple weeks and Bird not hitting, it looks like Frazier will get some run until both Giancarlo and Hicks return.

Where is FsB when you need him? He hates Clint Frazier. And thought our trades at the deadline in 2016 were garbage. Well, we got Sheffield who turned into Paxton. We have Torres and got a couple years out of Warren before turning him into INTL slot money to sign the guys we did this past offseason. McKinney with Drury turned into Happ. We still have Crawford, Heller and Feyereisen. Heck, we used a piece from the Nova trade to get Todd Frazier, Kahnle and Robertson and the other piece from the Nova deal is now in our pen in Tarpley. We even got Tate for Beltran which was the headliner for Britton. Seems that the deadline moves from 2016 were sheer brilliance
