Ockimey- 2 dingers tonight and 2 BBs. He's got 10.

Dalbec 1 for 4 with a double.

Duran is 1 for 3 with 2 rbi with the game still in progress.

Ockimey has often had quick starts to seasons. We'll see if he falls apart in the 2nd half again. It's a shame that his glove makes him basically a DH platoon only guy.

Yes, he never has done well vs lefties, but maybe we could see this someday:

DH:

v R Ockimey

v L Devers/Chavis

1B:

v R Devers/Chavis

v L Chavis

3B:

v R Devers/Dalbec/Chavis

v L Dalbec

Top pitching prospect Darwinzon Hernandez set career highs in both innings pitched and strikeouts with only a shaky second inning serving to blight an otherwise stellar outing. Hernandez went seven innings for the first time as a professional, striking out 11 and walking only two. He have up four runs (three earned), all in the second. Most importantly, the left-hander was efficiently pounding the strike zone, needing only 102 pitches to get through those seven frames, and throwing 72 of them for strikes.

Jarren Duran when 3 for 5 and is hitting .413. He needs to be called up at the end of the month.

No taters for the second day in a row. :(

To AA, maybe.

I'd move Dalbec to AAA now.

Duran is more ready to move up than Dalbec is. Let Dalbec stay in AA for another month or two.

I think Dalbec may be called up to the big club this fall. With Chavis now gone from AAA, probably for good, I'd start playing Dalbec at 3B instead of Jantzen Witte.

(I thought Dalbec was more than just one year older than Duran, but I was wrong. Move 'em both up a notch!)

They would need to add Dalbec to the 40-man roster first.

They certainly have DFA-able deadweight to make room to do so, but it hasn’t been done yet...

Not sure why Curletta and Travis are even on the 40 man to begin with.

We'll see how he looks by September, but yes, if we want him on the ML club, there are plenty of DFA options available to make room for him.

He'll need to be added for Rule 5 later in the fall, so there's that to think about.

Chatham and Dalbec are put on the 40 man. Ockimey is traded.

I think you may be right, unless we trade Dalbec.

With Moreland and Pearce likely not returning, we may want to keep all corner IF'ers in the system, until we find the right guy.

Probably Devers, Chavis and Dalbec would be enough for the short term, but if JD bolts, we may want to keep Ockimey, too, as a DH possibility down the road (him & Chavis).

May 3rd Dalbec was hitting .189, that was 2 weeks ago. Relax. Whats encouraging is not his HRS, its he is cutting down his strikeouts. Last 10 games he is hitting, .389, with 38 at bats, BUT with only 8 K's. Before that he had 77 at bats with 29 k's. Edited by OH FOY!

Also Minor League season, is still early Dalbec hasn't faced a lot of the Pitchers in Double AA yet. The good ones.

Vlad Guerrero Jr. had 266 at bats hitting .402 with 14 HRS, then he got promoted to Triple AAA, from Double AA. Dalbec has 115 at bats, and on a hot streak now, you want consistency, not just a hot 2 weeks.

Another thing Pedroia is with Portland, might not be playing, but might helping some of the kids, and giving the Front Office some good evaluations on those kids.

Yup, not enough AB’s this year.

Ockimey, Howlett and Duran hit taters on Saturday. Howlett is starting to come around and had a nice weekend.

Charlie Madden had two taters yesterday after being called up to Portland.

Would you promote a player based on RBIs?

Sort of like saying “We’re moving you up because everyone in front of you keeps getting on base.”

No way. I was just pointing out something surprising about Fitzy.

I would move Dalbec to AAA, because I think he needs to face more veteran pitchers.

Duran should probably be moved up at some point, if only to challenge him with better pitching.

I trust Sox management to move these guys when they are ready.

AAA is barely a developmental step any more. It’s more used nowadays to stack the bulk of minor league free agents and a chunk of players on the 40 man roster but not the 25 man roster.

I do think hitters face pitchers closer to ML'ers than in AA.

Jhon Nunez tater and triple.

Durran extended his hitting streak to 12 games.

In what is quickly becoming a season to remember, Thaddeus Ward turned in his third straight strong outing for Greenville. The Central Florida product has now struck out 29 batters in his last 25 innings, raising his K/9 to an impressive 10.4 on the season. Having now lowered his ERA to a sharp 2.50, the second-year starter has been impressive in the early going and will look to continue making a name for himself.

Marco Hernandez went 4 for 5 for PAW with one tater (first since 2016). Dalbec, Gorkys and Ockimey also had taters.

Brian Johnson gave up 3 runs in 1 2/3's.

Daniel Gonzalez went 8 innings and gave up just one run, 9 k's, 0 bb's.

Now that everyone has caught Chavis fever, where is Marco going to play?

2b/ss/3b. Chavis can be 1b/2b/dh.
