I am totally missing why anyone would give Harper a 200-300 million dollar contract.

Let the Yankees sign him and let them regret it down the road.

Amen.

Does betts turn to glass if you move him to 2nd?!!

Seriously, he has just as much chance getting spiked at 2nd as he does colliding with another OF'er or a wall.

Betts in RF isn’t broken. RF defense at Fenway is important probably more so than in most parks. And in this market, finding another 2b is easier than a RF and probably easier than a DH...

Understood and that was not my debate.

I was referring to the silly notion of him more apt to get hurt at 2nd than in the outfield.......

I think he is more apt to getting hurt at a position with which he is unfamiliar and one where contact with a runner is more likely than contact with a teammate

As noted before, the Pedroia injury has us (and maybe the Sox?) a tad wary.

Really he belongs inRF on this team...

pedroia's injury doesn't make it it any more likely.

Again, it's just a silly notion.......

Sure it’s silly. But it keeps it upfront in our minds...

I think so too. It may not be a huge difference, but any difference counts.

But it's not just contact with a teammate, it could also be the wall. I would also think the chance of pulling a hamstring or something of the like is more likely to occur sprinting in the OF than at 2nd base.

Maybe it's just me but I think he's more liable to get hurt playing a position where people are sliding toward him multiple times a game than he is running around in the outfield catching fly balls and picking up base hits.

I would say the difference is minimal at best.

I think that you are right. He'll stay in right though because that is the best place to have him on this team. The age old undebateable arguement is that he could get hurt going anywhere or doing anything, which is correct but I do think that it comes down to what position he makes the team better in. I think that it is right field.

We now know Esteban Quiroz will not be an option at 2b next year as he was just desalt to the Padres for 26yo minor leagueRHP Colten Brewer...

I like this trade. Brewer needs more seasoning at pawtucket, but he might be useful in 2019.

Agreed. Brewer has more potential big league utility on this team than the #5 second baseman on the depth chart is ever likely to.

Esteban Quiroz is a 19 year old 5' 7' second baseman. Who knows how me might develop? I think the risk of trading him was minimal.

For the second time, HE’S NOT NINETEEN. He turns 27 in February and has not been 19 since 2011.

So we do all know how he’s going to develop...
