Game counts nothing for us.

Can you turn the switch on and off though? This team looks lackadaisical. If they flame out again expect a lot of criticism towards these players and cora for playing it safe.

What us? I'm a fan watching a game played by highly paid professionals. That means something to me. And imagine how the fans at the game feel. What we are seeing tonight is very unprofessional by the Red Sox, who clearly could give a s***.

You cannot tell me Bogey tried at all on that at bat. Two fat fastballs, very hittable, strikes. The swing and miss at the change followed by a shrug--no big deal. I just struck on 3 pitches. What, me worry?

Men on 1st and 3d after a walk and a grounder to RF, no one out. 3, 4, and 5 hitters come to bat, shrug, and make three very easy outs for Happ who continues to throw like 80% fast balls.

I can't wait to feast on the sox pitching come the playoffs......

Yeah, it’s going to be great for you guys when Brian Johnson starts Game 1 of the ALDS, and the Yankees are going to be slugging like crazy when Cora replaces Kimbrel with Cuevas as a closer. The Yankees are going to feast on these guys because Cuevas is definitely going to be a key component of the postseason roster. In fact, if it came down to leaving him off or leaving Betts off, I’d tell Mookie to take a hike.

Bogaerts needs some work to do vs LHP. It's pedestrian what he is doing.

You can bet you will see lefties in game 1 and maybe 2 or 3 for the skanks.

You're right of course. Cora is going with non-roster guys on the mound tonight.

But, very frankly, I'm not so sure Sale will do much better than Johnson because he sure didn't look so hot vs. the Orioles.

Plus the Sox lineup is very likely to go against Happ in the ALDS--assuming NYY gets there--and our lineup can't seem to touch him even when he throws 80% fast balls.

You guys sure feasted on Sox pitching when we swept a four game series against you in August, a series that signaled the end of any chance you had to finish ahead of us. Bet you enjoyed that immensely.

Didn't Cora challenge a call during this debacle? Really?

Yes, he challenged the 4th run on whether the runner touched the plate and lost (borderline call but likely not enough to overturn). Swihart dropped the throw for the next run (runner had been called out). Sox could have been out of that inning only 3 runs down with a break and a play.

Anybody here lives in the southern states? Thinking of moving there, but the floods and hurricanes kinda put me off. Enduring a blizzard 3-4 times a year isn't close to being in a tropical storm.

Silver slugger award after 5 innings has to go to Kinsler for finally hitting two pitches really hard. Both foul, of course, but the Sox hardest hit balls tonight. Then, realizing his mistake, he did the right thing and struck out looking against a fat fast ball near the middle of the zone but a tad below center. Happ threw 8 or 9 pitches, all but one fastballs. No sweat.

Four of our kids live in Greensboro and had no problems. But it is inland.

Mookie might've hit something harder if he swung the bat tonight.

I spend 6 mounths in the North Carolina mountains. Temps are reasonable in the summer with pretty regular rain and some nice communities. I spend winters in my place in Florida but actually NC is not that bad in the wintere. Snow comes but rearely stays for more than a few days.

Mookie and Beni set the table. !st and 3rd with no one out. Out three, four and five hitters popped out, struck out and hit a weak grounder into a force play. Not ding a lot to impress. One hit so far.

I have a cousin that owns a farm in NC. They got hit very badly last week.

Where I am we got 20 mph winds and 3 to 4 inches of rain over 2 days. No real problem but the coastal areas were a catastrophe.

I don't think it's too early to post my predictions for the upcoming AL playoffs, so here they are:

WC winner: Yankems

ALDS winners: Yankems and Astros

ALCS winner: Astros

Great regular season by the SOX, in fact, one of the best examples of overachieving I've seen in a very long time.

Definition of overachieving: When a team's won/lost record doesn't equate to the actual talent of the overall team. This exact same team could just as easily won 88-90 games this year.

This is why I'm done with the game threads.

I like having Sale on this team, but I'm not sure he can be defined as the ACE of the staff because, as I've mentioned previously, he's only at his effective best 5 months out of a 6 month season. I guess we'll have to observe if he is effective in the PO's.
