Depending how the A's and Yankems fare over their next 4 games, the 3 game SOX/Yankem series could still determine which wild card achieves the HFA. If that's the case, it will be interesting to see how the SOX will put together their line-up and pitching against the Yankems.

Here's a little poll: please choose who you would prefer to play in the opening round? And yes, because of the big differences in the ballparks, I believe HFA will make a significant difference. I would prefer the SOX go against the A's.

I think the A's give us a better chance, especially when you figure they will have used a top SP'er and will have less rest and more travel before game 1.

That being said, I'd like to beat up on the Yanks.

Wrong game to showcase. COuldn't they pick a more interesting game? This is the final Sunday night game on ESPN.

Yeah, I'm surprised they chose a rather meaningless game.

My gut tells me the better matchup for us is the Yankees. The A's have that scrappy underdog thing going, and that kind of team can be trouble.

I would prefer to Sox go against the A's as well.

But my opinion really has more to do with wanting the Yankees eliminated than thinking the A's will be an easier opponent, though I do think our chances would be a little better against the A's.

COL v AZ would have been better.

Agreed. Or even a game where at least one of the teams were playing for something, like the Dodgers or the Oakland game.

Right, but weeks ago this looked like it might be an important game.

I just don't know how short of a notice they can give to ticketholders.

This is ESPN we're talking about here.

THEY DON'T CARE.

Oakland has been overachieving for quite a while. The Yankees are a better , more talented , more dangerous foe. I feel confident the Sox can beat either , but Oakland would be easier.
