All the pressure is on this Sox team because they have flamed out the last two seasons. Can you imagine if they get swept? They would have won close to 300 games in 3 seasons and 1 win.

That is my worst fear. Even losing in game7 in the conf finals I could learn to accept. But a first round exit three years in a row would be utterly humiliating especially with our record this year.

I would have yesterday. Eovaldi pitches well against NY, Price does not.

I would have yesterday to clinch the division and rotate/rest — or whatever you want to call it— the 25 the next 2 weeks.

Price wasn’t horrible tonight, but his style (throwing away to right handed hitters) just doesn’t play well at Yankee Stadium. 3 really cheap homers that went what, 950 feet total?

Is anyone watching the yes feed? That soldier they honored threw up 3 sieg heil nazi salutes. I just rewound to confirm it.

Lets face it...a goodly part of the country is just a few baskets short of a full picnic at present. I promise not to make such a comment in a game thread again. But it is what it is.

The tone was set in the first. squander too many chances.

The tone was set with men on 2nd and 3rd and 1 out with Bogaerts up. He has popped the ball up the last two games in critical situations. I have no advice, just an observation.

The weakness we have with 3rd base defense is another thing that can and did bite us. Not much we can do about it as both our guys are error prone.

Price was not as sharp tonnight, but Yankee stadium is not a place for him to pitch. He lives on the outside corner and all the homeruns he gave up were either outside or to the outside part of the plate and at the top of the zone. None of those were out at Fenway. More of a concern were the walks. If he doesn't walk people, Nunez error was nothing.

Another demonstration that Kelly cannot be trusted as a setup man.

Well, before tonight’s game, Price is 7.1 ERA in his last five games vs NYY.

Price is going to be oks, but he used to struggle vs NY. The same happens to other pitchers. For example If I recall well, Porcello struggles way bad vs TOR, but pitches very well vs HOU and NY.

Why would anyone watch those clowns?

I have to 18 times a year. Price I pay for living in enemy territory. Nesn feed is blacked out

I don't want any part of this building post season. Send Houston here. I am sure they would love a return visit.

The rays won again tonight. Hot as a firecracker

I won’t be surprised if they reach OAK. It’s a shame they play in the ALE.

I almost feel bad that they aren’t in the other conference. They would be in a playoff spot right now.

Moonslav assured us on last night's game thread that Cora went with his "minor league lineup." Well, they might have been, but they looked better than tonight's. Both lineups only scored 1 run, but last night at least threatened now and then. Tonight's just rolled over and played dead except for that magnificent rbi single by Leon.

Not sure our guys are ready for prime time. With 103 wins, that's kind of a shame. In these two games--yes, yes, a very small sample size but against a team we could well face in the ALDS--we've seen an awful bullpen, an equally awful lineup, our #2 starter hammered, and our steady eddy 3B let one go right between his legs for 2 runs with 2 outs. Ugh.

To the Yankees credit, I thought their pitching was excellent in both games. Both starters had good stuff, mixed up their pitches, and mostly hit their spots. Their bullpen owned our lineup even with 2 errors. Their hitting looked pretty decent too.

In our building I am OK playing this team. In there building...not so much...in fact not at all.

That still does not solve the problem that is overarching. The rest of the league has learned how to pitch to us in general which goes beyond the obvious problems presented by Yankee stadium. That bothers me even more.

This mess here angers me because its these GD pin stripes for one and for another, Cora did not find a way to keep Price out of this series. Its three games!!!!!

Finally I swear to God if there is a way to lock the God Damn bullpen door, we better find a way to do it.

Kid gets out of it. Hope the jitters are gone for later. Yanks bats didn’t quit. Everyone going to RF was a thing of beauty. Price shaking his hand was funny as well. Sox have scored 1 earned run in the first two games. The second best pitcher of the second half goes tomorrow and we face another lefty in the stadium. If I were Cora and the Yanks do face the Sox in the ALDS, I’d ensure Porcello and Eovaldi start at Yankee Stadium. No way I send a lefty out there

It isn’t that teams have learned how to pitch your players. It’s that the ancillary players came back to earth and 4 hitters does not a lineup make. Betts, Beni, JD and Bogey are the only consistent hitters. If the opponent shuts them down, the Sox don’t hit. If the opponent keeps them from seeing good pitches in RBI spots, the Sox don’t hit. If the opponent keeps them in the yard and sticks to the above, the Sox don’t hit. Sevy allowed 3 JD singles today. Nobody was in scoring position. No pitches he hit were driveable. I told you guys months ago that your lineup was too top heavy. It’s shown in this series.

Sale can pitch in Yankee stadium if he is sound. Price....No. Eddy...maybe...depends on who is catching. Sounds strange but it true. Pom does not even make the post season team but he would be a no.

This team playing yet another dragging out September, and Cora is chiefly behind it.

E-rod has a good track record against these asshats. Just clinch tomorrow and put it on iced, Cora gets a Capri sun along with Devers.

I wouldn't be surprised if the SOX reach the WS and I wouldn't be surprised if the SOX were eliminated in the 1st round.

We’ve got our hands full with Oakland or the late charging TB. They’ve both got good bullpens and are willing to use them from inning number 1. They’ve also got polar opposite offenses that make them painful. TB gets on base and terrorizes teams with the ability to run. Oakland can drop bombs. We have to find a way to get through them. If we do, I like our chances against the Sox. I don’t think the Sox will win a game in NY without throwing their #4 and #5 starters and I don’t foresee them doing that especially if game 4 is an elimination game.

Sale wouldn’t line up in YS, though. I’m anticipating Sale as the 1 and the 5 of the ALDS. If you had to place the other 3 spots, I’d think he’d throw a lefty in there at YS and that’d be dumb

It has been obvious how to pitch to the Sox since the Maneae game in Oakland and it just took time for the rest of the league to catch on. You throw our LH hitters change ups and cutters and our RH hitters sliders and two seams. DO NOT throw FB's for strikes to any of them. Show FB only. Only throw it for a strike if forced to it. Do that and they are DEAD. Does not matter if its 1-4 or 5-9 in the order, they are dead. JD is the only hitter we have that can hit at all against that sequence consistently. Mookie, not as much. The rest of them not at all really. They have to be fed FB's to be an offensive force. They hit like an NL team that happens to have a DH.

Anybody that thinks the power outage this team has suffered is some accident is smoking something.
