Not sure I agree but he raises some valid points.......

The Astros aren't going to win the most games in baseball this year, because the Red Sox will. Houston won't have the top seed in the American League playoffs, because Boston will. A year ago at this time, the Astros were celebrating a division title, thanks to a 15-game lead

i like your new signature. ever been here?

florida is great tho

enjoy the play in game. if your lucky you win and actually make the playoffs.....

On paper they have the deepest team in baseball. Almost every player on their roster can be considered "above average". And since they won the WS last year, they should be the team to beat this year as well.

Houston +251

Boston +220

It's relatively close.

Last year Cleveland was +254, and I think they may have had the greatest second half in modern history. But it somehow didn't translate into a title...

She's a funny old game.

Yes, been to jersey many times, more times than I had wished. Pretty much a dump and a bunch of shitheads.......

But why not stick to the thread subject?

It wasn't trolling, just thought it would be a good topic for debate, if you don't like it there are plenty of other threads you can go on.

Houston is currently the best team in baseball, but I like our chances.

It matters not who is playing the best over the last week, 2 weeks or two months.

The Sox are the best team.

Just watch.

So if what has happened this season doesn't matter, how do you judge who's the best?

The W/L should be the metric when you play such long season over too many games. Win 100+ AND be ahead 8-10 games over the 2nd best team is not randomness.

Then... you can split the numbers all you want, make some decent conjectures, and back them up with some stats and info, but in the end it will be a rational subjective opinion at best.

So don’t worry, in the end the game has to be played in October, and that my friend is a different animal.

Better teams have a better chance at winning, but with 10 teams making the playoffs, not team ever has a better than 50% chance of winning it all before the playoffs begin.

The regular season doesn't matter in some respects, but it does show us who are the better teams and who have the better chances. of course, teams with worse records can and do win.

I like our chances better than the Yanks' chances.

I judge by run differential and Pythagorean W-L. The Sox overtook the Astros for a brief time, but for most of the season, the Astros have been the team to beat. That doesn't mean the Sox can't win or that the Astros are a huge favorite, but if I'm being objective, then I have to say the Astros are currently the best team in baseball.

Meh. If you have it, that's great, but being healthy and well-rested is more important than HFA.

The remind me of us last year.

I live down here near Houston. It's snakebite year for them.

They have 3-4 very good starters, a strong pen and offense. I still like our chances better. I can't argue with some data in their favor, but I'd hate to play Cleveland in the first round.

We should be more rested than the Astros and Yanks, everyone seems healthy, and we'll have HFA.
