I think its about time we realize that Sale's discomfort was and is a bit more than discomfort. They are handling him very very carefully which is likely the right thing to do. I just think its kinda' funny Eck and OB going on about top pitchers out for other teams as if we just got this knocked with Chris Sale.

He threw 100 during the brief period he was back. I have no idea what is/was wrong with him; none of us do. I just watch performance and velocity.

Well he had that one return and went right back on the DL. So throwing 100 directly to the DL is not terrible encouraging. Clearly the Sox are being very careful with him. In fact, they have been careful with him through the whole season hoping not to be where they are right now by season end.

So, Sale's 40 promised pitches turned out to be 26 and one inning. Maybe the idea was two innings but 26 in one inning was enough.

I don't understand that last discussion about MVP in the booth. Used to be that league MVP was awarded to the guy that had the most impact on his TEAM. That was the MVP. So there was no such animal as a distinction between the league MVP and a team MVP. The team MVP that was judged most impactful to his team was the league MVP. Does Eck really think his 1992 MVP came as a result of being the league's best player? I don't think so.

Foe Eovaldi to be an effective long reliever, he needs to be able to throw a higher % strikes. He went 20 pitches in his first inning and had trouble finding the plate.

Long inning. He finish the night by throwing in the pen.

Hmmmm. They are really being cautious with this. Perhaps worse than I thought. Hopefully he’s ready to go by playoffs

'Valuable' has always been a problematic word I think. A fuzzy concept.

He will throw 1 inning more each remaining starts.

I have not been happy with the way the Boston media has just opted to be pushing JD over Mookie. Mookie makes ridiculous plays in the field and then comes to plate and is a ridiculously good hitter and is a ridiculously smart and effective base runner AND its Mookies team. Its not JD's team. Yet I have heard buckets of Boston Media types flat out call JD the league MVP over Mookie. Then to hear this odd description of a league MVP while somebody else on the same team is the so called Team MVP is a bit much for me. Besides, I just don't get it. I guess I would get it if media types outside of Boston were doing it. Don't get Boston media types doing it.

Our lineup has one hit in 4 innings and have not pushed this guy as yet (just 50 pitches). Second time around at least they started to hit the ball with more authority. This guy throws a lot of sinkers. Betts and Beni went to center and JDM got a changeup and hit is better. Can't beat the ball into the ground.

Why do our pitches seem to take the count to 3 and 2 with a baserunner and 2 outs. Seems like giving the runner a head start is not the smart thing to do. He got the strikeout, but I think the approach makes no sense.

Boy does this team look like its going to cruise to the end of the season. Which is fine. They are going to win the division. Its a long season. I just hope they can sharpen the razor back up again going into the post season. They are playing from hammocks right now.

They’re really taking it easy with sale. They gotta be careful if rust kicks in the playoffs. He needs to go deep into the games before the playoffs.
