Great, the Sox have been in 46 games since June 17th. If Barnes has to make consecutive late game appearances and has to do it more than once under post season pressure, would you bank you post on him? I wouldn't...not on a bet. But I might have more confidence in him if he is truly pressed going into the latter part of this season and performs.

Fair enough. You are certainly entitled to your opinion. However, keep in mind that Barnes has been excellent over the past 20 appearances. I don't think you can expect more than what he has done.

Really an awful appearance by Barnes. Two hits a wild pitch and a walk all leading to a run and could have been much worse. What is going on with the BP. Hembree is beyond awful these days and neither Barnes nor Kimbrel seems to have the dominance they had earlier and now Thornburg was bad. Isn't there something the pitching coach can do?

Yes, he can show them the videotape of their off balance, overthrowing tendencies and get them back to their base mechanics instead of trying to throw it through Leon's glove. Try strikes on the edge of the zone.

Apparently Lyons missed what the O's fans didn't miss on the Jones play in RF. That was about as disgusting an effort as I have seen in a long time. Anybody think we are going to see something like THAT in the post season?

You are so right. Jones may not have wanted to be traded but he quit big time on that one, and is probably sick of playing .

Either Jones is not 100% or he's not happy playing RF.

Jones used to be such a good defender. Now he is a dog out there.

Since May 10, in 35 appearances, -thats three months-Barnes has had an ERA under 2 with a BAA of .176. He has been consistently excellent. There is no cogent argument that can be made that he has not done everything asked of him this year. Perfect? No. No one is. But I would take those stats from any RP on my team.

In the post season we are going to be running the same pitchers out there over and over again. There won't be any of this "here, kid, give it a try" stuff unless everybody is totally gassed and totally used up in particular games. So the guys we have in our pen are going to have to perform in pressure situations back to back and probably back to back to back if we really do get anywhere in the post season.

Hembree...NOPE

Kelly....NOPE

Workman....NOPE

Barnes.....very doubtful but maybe

Brassier....maybe but I doubt it

Thornburg....NOOOOOOOOPE

Pom....who the f--k knows

Valazquez.....probably can do it at some level of performance

Johnson.....maybe back to back but not more than back to back

Kimbrel....back to back if its a one inning outing each time. Back to back to back....NOPE

Am i missing anybody?

Velazquez? Really? The guy has consistently allowed guys on base all year and been a Houdini getting out of those situations cheap. He is a long/early game guy, nothing more.

With that evaluation, The Sox may as well just quit now, because there isn't going to be any bullpen help. The Guardians aren't going to allow it, let alone the Astros or Yankees.

What’s with kimbrel and his control? Does he ever have a 0-2 count?

Terrible to come in and walk a guy with a 3 run lead and then throw a knuckle curve when he couldn't hit the fastball. What's next?

Some folks here get confused when presented with facts.

Our BP is what it is. One just would expect something better on a .700 club. But, like I posted earlier, the SOX offense helps cover up that glaring weakness.
