Does my tip for avoiding the MLB blackout restrictions work for you?

/

I haven’t tried it yet but will def the next series. Today’s game I was sitting in an apple store the entire game waiting for the blue shirts to fix my sons phone. I listened to the weei feed on my headphones.

Most of the kudos being given to Chase Adams were due to the low expectations. He did not implode. The fact is that three earned runs in five innings is nothing to write home about.

Not me. My memory is too long. As far as I'm concerned the Yankees are never dead until that wooden stake gets driven through their hearts.

Very true. The Sox need to be 4 up or more when that last 3 game series starts in Fenway in September. I'm sure most all know the 1978 debacle, leading by 14+ in mid August only to have Dent meet Mike Torres in a one game playoff . Still can't accept that Yaz fouled out to end that one with a runner on. Then there was '48 vs the Guardians, '49 vs the Yankees , '67 Cardinals, '75 Reds, '86 Mets all one game or 7th game losses before the miracle ALCS and WS of 2004, followed by '07 and '13. You can never be too far ahead until they hand you the trophy.

Probably it’s just me but I don’t trust in Kimbrel anymore. I wouldn’t extend him.

You're absolutely correct.

It's just you.

You're right, but consider what we'd be feeling if a rookie came into his debut against the Yankees and went 5 giving up 3. Pretty good job, right? I mean, Johnson gave up 4 and we still gave him kudos. He came into a very stressful game in his first time ever in the big leagues and didn't die. That's actually impressive. If it was a Red Sox pitching the same line against the Yankees in their big league debut, I don't have to guess, I *KNOW* we'd be singing his praises.

I fully trust him. He’s been unreal this year. People are just scared because he had a bad outting in the playoffs last year. If he does again and costs us a playoff game maybe I’ll reconsider. But till then I think he has been awesome.

The thing I didn't like about today's game was the 3 strikeouts by Betts. All third strikes were swinging strikes with Betts chasing pitches out of the zone. In the first two strikeouts, Betts expanded the zone by swinging at high fastballs. In his third strikeout, Betts expanded the zone by swinging at a ball in the dirt.

That's the Yankees pitching staff philosophy. They usually start off with fastballs to get ahead and then stop throwing strikes and get the batter to chase. Tanaka is an ace pitcher when teams chase. Tanaka is a bottom of the rotation starter when teams lay off his splitter in the dirt and force him to throw strikes.

My lineup for Sunday:

Betts RF (I was thinking about benching him due to his unacceptable at bats on Saturday but I'll overlook it this time)

Benintendi LF

Moreland 1b

Martinez DH

Bogaerts SS

Bradley CF

Holt 2b

Leon C

Renda 3b (get Nunez out of there -- please! OPS+ 76).

Kimbrel is the embodiment of the old saying that "You never want to be the man who follows the legend. You want to be the man who follows the man who follows the man who follows the legend".

Timing aside, in this case the legend is Koji. I'm not sure that if Sidd Finch were the closer now he would be favorably compared to Koji.

And for those of you who were born too late in life to have heard of Finch, .....

Nothing to write home about, but a pretty respectable performance for a guy making his ML debut in Fenway in very adverse circumstances.

Now that is funny.

Thunder has grown up into a pretty funny dude.

I didn't think that particular comment was that funny, but I'll take it. During my travels to Europe last year I realized that no matter how much people hate America, the French will always be on top of the list.

That's true, but he's the Yankees 8th or 9th pitcher on their totem pole. He did his job for the Yankees, under an extreme amount of pressure.

He deserves some credit.

Twelve years ago, same month, the Yankees came to town and destroyed the Sox pitching while sweeping a 4 game series that basically destroyed that season. Time for some payback. It was Beckett's first season in Boston and I think his ERA was around 5. But he was a whole lot better in 2007.

Two very nicely pitched games by Porcello and Eovoldi, but the Yankees are missing Judge and Sanchez (also known as "Charlie Shuffle").

You said it. Time for some payback.

Ugh. I hate to be reminded of that. At the time I was working with an extremely obnoxious Yankees fan (is that redundant?) and he made life a living Hell for us Sox fans for the rest of the season.

I remember that all too well. I still like Beckett
